Joan Auld! ❤️

Born and raised in the Hudson River Valley in upper New York state, Joan got to Texas as fast as she could via the United States Air Force where her family settled after her husband retired from the military. Joan is also an Air Force Veteran and is just as proud of a son who is still in the military (Army) and preparing to retire after 20 years.

While raising four sons (a blended family) she was involved in volunteer work with many organizations/sports they were involved in. She earned a degree from the University of Florida in her spare time (NOT) and then entered the corporate world. She worked for 27 years with various Texas Non-Profit organizations as Office Manager, President or Executive Director. Her last position was as the Executive Director of the Heritage Center (Calhoun County Senior Center) in Port Lavaca , Texas. Prior to starting the Director position, she and her husband volunteered for Meals on wheels for eleven years. We also did volunteer work as members of the Lions Club, and the American Legion and our Church.

As her husband’s health worsened, they made the decision to move to Arlington to be closer to their oldest son so that he could help her take care of his father. She volunteered for various groups in Arlington for a short time until her husband’s passing.

In 2019, Joan began working as a volunteer with the Activity Director at Highlands Village and she has been volunteering three days a week since, having just completed four years and starting her fifth year of sharing her time with our residents.

Now she has an opportunity to expand her experience by filling the position as The Weekend Activity Director! She will be available Friday through Sunday!

Joan shares: “Volunteering is a gift and I am blessed to be able to do what I do. I enjoy the residents and the staff at Highlands Village, and I look forward to building stronger relationships with them”
