Tonight and tomorrow will be the last 2 classes for 2025! Tonight we'll practice Cardio, Core, and Contemplation, and tomorrow we'll close out the year with Gentle Yoga, as is fitting. Thank you to everyone who has come into the room to practice, and to everyone who has joined via Zoom. I am especially impressed with all you are practicing at home with the Online Library.
Thank you!! I speak for myself when I say that yoga has gotten me through this weird year with equanimity, poise, and balance, and I hope it has done the same for you. I am beyond grateful to this amazing community. If I don't see you before the holidays, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! The studio will reopen on Friday. January 2nd for Happy Hour Yoga--as is fitting! Namaste and Love, Kath

What if a single smiling honeymoon photograph turned out to hide a lifetime of secrets, betrayals, and impossible choices? In “Indignity,” Lea Ypi turns her own family history into a gripping investigation that races through war, dictatorship, and revolution to ask how well we ever know the people we love—and what we owe them once we learn the truth.

Get a copy and join us on January 11 for the discussion.

I've been having so much fun in class lately, mostly because of the people who've been showing up in the room and on the Zoom. Regulars! I love regulars! You know your limits! You know your bodies! You're up for anything! You forgive my eccentricities! Thank you! I love you!

I feel winter closing in, and I want to go in with it. I want to wrap myself in blankets and sit by the fire with books. At the same time, the holidays bring their traditions: parties, cookies, trees, lights, wrapping, and gift-buying. It's all lovely, but it conflicts with my need for solitude and hibernation. An hour on my yoga mat each day helps me meet each need: the need for community and the need for solitude. Tonight's class will be warm and introspective. Let's stay grounded and intentional as we head into the holidays.

Happy December 1st! As the month progresses, we'll all get busier and busier, so it's important to put a grounding practice in place to avoid burnout. Tonight we'll practice Ashtanga style. It's a practice that's built on the breath: slowing it, and being absorbed in it. Hope to see you later!

Why do we throw away our life preservers when we're drowning? Why is the first thing to go when we're feeling underwater, our grounding practices? It's stupid, yet we think that if we skip yoga, we'll get a ton done in that hour. Maybe, but at what cost? Our nerves? Our eqanimity? Our patience? Nobody likes us when we're frazzled, so as the holidays start to ramp up, I beg you, prioritize the things that make you calmer and sweeter! Don't toss your life preserver when you're drowning.
