We had some fun this morning. There was an unveiling ceremony for a Texas State Historical Marker which is now on the outside of our building at 126 N. Main Street. It recognizes the Board and Chorn Drugstore, which operated on this site in the early 20th century. Many thanks to everyone who came to the party.

No photo yet! We are going call a mulligan on the tile and start over. We did get our green tag from the City, so we are good to finish out the interior of the new facade wall. The excitement has not faded for us! This is fun.

The tile setter is working today right at our front door. The construction is almost finished, but for today, please come in the back door on Smith Street. There is parking immediately behind the building, and the back door is unlocked.

As an optometry office, we have to ask, "Which is better, 1 or 2?" We think we like #2. Window Day 2024 was a huge success!

Yesterday our new awning was installed. The 1895 cast iron columns, covered for at least 50 years, have been cleaned and painted, and we are really happy with how everything is coming together. Tomorrow should be "Window Day".

Like butter! Getting some "pretty" while an engineer checks on our old girl. At 129 years young, we want to be sure she'll go another 100 or so. Stay tuned.....the wheels are turning.

So, it seems the front hasn't changed a whole lot since the awning was taken down, but inside? THAT's where the fun is! The framers are framing like mad, and you can get a peek at what it will be like with the new transom windows and doorway. Our current glass doors will be gone as soon as the rest of the facade is secure.
