The holiday season can place increased demands on our time, finances, and emotional energy. While meaningful, it can also bring stress, grief, and emotional overwhelm.

For those experiencing loss or seasonal depression, the holidays may intensify feelings of sadness or loneliness. These responses are valid.

Feeling overwhelmed? Try the S.T.O.P. technique

Sometimes anxious thoughts can sweep in fast — but you can pause, reset, and ground yourself with this simple method:

🛑 S — Stop.
Pause what you’re doing. Give yourself a moment to break the cycle.

🌬️ T — Take a deep breath.
Inhale slowly through your nose, exhale through your mouth. Repeat until your body softens.

👀 O — Observe.
What’s happening in your mind and body? Notice your thoughts and feelings without judgment.

➡️ P — Proceed.
Move forward with intention. Choose the next step that helps you feel calm, safe, or supported.

As we enter Thanksgiving week, we want to remind you that your well being matters just as much as the traditions and celebrations around you.

Gratitude can be a powerful tool for the mind, but when life feels heavy, it isn’t always easy to access and that’s okay.

This season can be joyful for many, but it can also feel overwhelming, stressful, or tender for those who are grieving or missing someone. Whatever you’re feeling is valid.

Here are a few gentle ways to care for your mental health when gratitude feels out of reach:

• Notice one small comforting moment at a time
• Take short breaks to reset your mind and body
• Use deep, intentional breathing to calm your nervous system
• Set healthy boundaries to protect your peace
• Honor your feelings without judgment
