Listen… growing up, our names were NEVER on the souvenir keychains, and honestly? That’s why I name some of my body oils after my friends with those beautiful, Black-ass, non–“keychain” names.

This is for the culture. For the girls whose names teachers stumbled over. For the ones who had to spell it out every first day of school. For the names our parents crafted with love, rhythm, legacy, and sauce.

When you see a KBAB body oil named after somebody? Just know it’s honoring excellence, friendship, and the magic that comes with a name born from our community.

A little homage. A little melanin memory. A whole lot of smell-good luxury.

Because if the world won’t put our names on a keychain…
I’ll put them on a bottle. 💅🏿✨
Holla at me!

The Legend of the Urban Herbalist

Meet Akilah Scott-Amos, owner of Kissed By A Bee Organics. Akilah is a 3rd Generation Herbalist, an "urban farmer", and a Gen Xer entrepreneur. Akilah comes from generations of rootworkers and sharecroppers; she learned most of her knowledge about the healing powers of plants via her Grandmother (LeDora) and Father (William). Born and raised as a vegetarian, most of her meals were made from scratch and grown right on the family property. Many plants and roots were grown to nourish the body, but also heal ailments as well. She decided to start Kissed By A Bee Organics in May 2013, with the support of her husband and friends. Akilah also has several certifications in herbalism and is constantly honing her craft. She, along with her family, utilize their backyard to the max by growing roughly 75% of what she uses in the products. She lives in Spring, TX with her two sons (Alex and Aiden), her husband (Christopher) and a Fish named Atgah.
