This came up in conversation and I felt the need to address it. How adults respond or react to shy kids. As parents we sometimes want to make our kids talk to strangers/family alike and when they don't meet all expectations, we apologize by saying, sorry he's shy. This is a good reminder, for myself included, to stop making excuses or apologies. Let's embrace our shy kid and have the adults meet the kids' expectations instead and start being a patient and accepting communication partner!

Here are a few tips to help enhance language at home for your kiddos that may need that extra support!!

While everyone is home warding off Covid-19, I would like to take a minute to offer virtual support, if I can, for your kids that usually receive speech therapy. If possible, I will send you worksheets or activities that you can do with your child while at home. I will need to know what he/she is working on. Please reach out if I can be of help during this difficult time.

Thanks,
Allison Snyder MS CCC/SLP
