Every day is someone’s birthday. And in early March, our Arbor Lakes community celebrated that month’s residents with a March Birthday Party! 🥳🎉🎂

Of course there was cake, followed by music from Kathy & Van Nixon. The duo sang while playing piano and guitar, keeping us entertained throughout the afternoon.

In mid-March, our Arbor Lakes residents enjoyed a special Nancy Dice Memorial Concert Series performance presented by International Friendship Through the Performing Arts.

We heard traditional Chinese music, including folk and Peking opera instrumentals, performed by musicians Gao Hong, Mei Hu, and Zhengang Xie.

What a joy to experience this beautiful and inspirational afternoon of entertainment!

The Arbor Lakes artists were at it again, this time creating a cute Easter bunny craft.

Residents decorated floppy straw hats with pipe cleaners, felt ears, googly eyes, flowers, bonnets, bows, and more to design their own bunny face. Look at how adorable these turned out!

Residents in our Southview communities look forward to spring for warmer temps and time outside in the fresh air. It’s also when we start planning ideas for our community gardens, which is appropriate as April is National Garden Month.

Soon, we’ll be planting flowers, herbs, and vegetables in our raised garden beds and reaping the benefits of our harvest. Gardening not only improves strength and flexibility, but it’s also a natural stress reliever and mood booster, so residents really love it!

Last month, the Arbor Lakes community pulled out all the stops for St. Patrick’s Day fun.

Residents were encouraged to wear green, along with the wackiest St. Paddy’s Day accessories they could find. We played games, including St. Paddy’s Day bingo, and residents filled up on all sorts of snacks and goodies!

To prepare for the arrival of spring, Arbor Lakes artists got out the paints and brushes to create springtime crafts. Each participant selected a wooden cut-out design and spent the afternoon adding their personal touch with paint. Each one turned out so great!

On March 20, our Arbor Lakes community welcomed springtime with a special Spring Social event. We made our own version of Shamrock Shakes with mint chocolate ice cream, and they were dee-licious! Residents were also treated to accordion music by Pete Sandvik.

In late March, the Arbor Lakes community hosted a Happy Hour Social event. Residents enjoyed a variety of refreshments and a live performance by Randy Rolloff, who dazzled us with his singing and keytar-playing talents.

All throughout April we celebrate National Move More Month, a time to get up and move for health and happiness.

Physical movement for seniors is important for strengthening bones and muscles, improving balance, and reducing the risk of chronic illnesses. While regular exercise can be challenging for those with physical limitations, our Arbor Lakes community understands that. And we make a point of offering a range of activities and classes designed for seniors of all abilities for all-around safety and wellness.
