March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Colon cancer involves cell growth in the large intestine and often begins with polyps, a small grouping of cells. Polyps usually aren't cancerous, and they often don't cause symptoms, but some can turn into colon cancer over time. Removing them helps prevent colon cancer.
