During this holiday season, we gather with loved ones and friends to share in the joy and meaning of this wonderful time. The MFDA Board of Directors wants to honor our members for their commitment and unwavering support of the funeral service profession, along with the essential care you offer now and year-round. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and joyful holidays!

The holidays can be a lot if you are grieving.

If things start to feel overwhelming, it’s okay to step away from the chaos for a bit—take a walk, breathe, meditate, or just find a quiet moment for yourself.

Reach out if you can. Call a friend, meet up for coffee, join a local event, or even volunteer. Connection (in any form) really does help.

It’s also okay to say no. You can politely decline events or conversations that don’t feel good for you right now—protecting your peace matters.

And if this year feels different—especially because of grief—you’re not imagining it. It’s okay to acknowledge that things don’t feel the same, and you don’t have to pretend otherwise.

If you’re able, giving or helping others can actually be good for you—boosting mood and offering a sense of purpose when things feel heavy.

Be gentle with yourself this holiday season. However you’re feeling is valid.
