All Things Birth MN Birth Doula, Hypnobabies Childbirth Education Instructor, Lactation Counselor, Craniosacral Therapi Hello! Happy Birthing!

-Laura

My name is Laura Hanstad and I am a certified Hypnobabies Childbirth Hypnosis Instructor (HCHI), registered Hypno-doula (HCHD), DONA trained Birth Doula, Lactation Educator Counselor (CLEC), a Craniosacral Therapist (CST) and a Certified Placenta Preparer. I am also trained in Spinning Babies for optimal fetal positioning and in homeopathy for pregnancy and childbirth. A Doula is a birthing support person offering emotional, physical and mental support during a woman's birthing time. My doula services include two prenatal meetings with you and your birth partner, support during your birthing time, immediate postpartum support to establish bonding and breastfeeding, and one postpartum meeting including the birth processing. I will also be available to you via phone and email for additional support. I believe all expectant parents should be educated in their birthing options. Whether you want a natural birth at home or in a hospital, an epidural or a C-section a doula plays a crucial role in supporting the mama, the birth partner or whoever else may be involved in the birth such as children, grandparents or siblings. I like to use healing touch, essential oils, position changes and movement, and visualization as a few means of comfort and of course, if you are using Hypnobabies® Childbirth Hypnosis, I will help you to deepen your hypnosis for a more comfortable birthing. Please contact me if you are interested in my services or have questions about creating a birth plan or about doulas in general.

I love that Hilary Duff chooses homebirth and shares it with the world. The more we share positive birth stories (and not just the drama on TV and movies), the more we can normalize physiological birth and the power that can come with it

YES YES YES!!! She did it! Olympic Gold Medalist Allyson Felix got her unmedicated VBAC! After a traumatic first birth she educated herself, found a supportive care team, a doula and used Hypnobabies (Official) to have the birth of her dreams. A HUGE congratulations to her and her family 🥇

Thanks to Erin at Flutterby Birth Services for pulling the most up-to-date stats on c-section rates among the Twin Cities.
Pay attention to data such as this, how your providers speak about birth, ask about use of things like waterbirth, slings and peanut balls and how they feel about doulas to gauge if the hospital is the right one for you

They're heeeee-eeeere! Visit this link for a bar chart *and* spreadsheet reporting the 2022 Twin Cities' area hospital cesarean rates: https://www.flutterbybirth.com/blog/cesarean-rates-twin-cities-hospitals

**Annual Disclaimer: I am just the messenger. 🙃 Data is compiled as a courtesy to birthing families and birthworkers in the Twin Cities. It is a time-consuming process to mine and present data reporting in this way. When sharing, please credit

Two year nursiversary with this one. I have spent over 11 years of my life nursing a baby or toddler or both at the same time or one while growing another inside me.
If you knew me at the beginning, with the hesitation, the fears, the lack of confidence, the dare at say embarrassment and watched me along my journey until now I’m here to tell you that it gets easier if you’re struggling, your confidence and comfort will build, you make enough milk for your baby, nursing into toddlerhood is the worldwide norm and recommendation by the World Health Organization. But most importantly, find help. Find support. Whether it’s a sister, your mom, a friend, a doula, La Leche League, a lactation professional. Find the folks who’ve been in your shoes and don’t stop looking until you find us. It makes all the difference in the world.

I will show and teach this technique to anyone who listens. I show every pregnant person I work on, every doula, midwife or nurse. Balancing the uterus and unwinding the fascia to balance, create space and release tension not only creates more comfort for mom’s body but provides opportunities for optimal fetal positioning. Got a foot in your rib? Try this. Have ligament pain? Try this. Need baby to turn head down or reposition? Try this.
My practice has a very high success rate of getting babes into a more optimal position and it is largely due to this technique ✨👐

Sharing some old favorites…

“Repeat Doula Experience Every birth is different; our reasons for getting a doula for each birth was different too. The first time we hired Laura it was because we had never had a baby before and we needed that extra support and confidence to guide us through our birth process. Birth can be unpredictable and even though we had an amazing birth with our first child, we knew that was due in part to Laura’s skills. Knowing she was by our side allowed my husband and me to stay calm, knowing whatever happened Laura would be able to direct us through. I also had different goals in mind for my second birth. I wanted to be at a birth center and I wanted not to tear. Laura helped coach me prior to my birthing time and during the birth to help me do both successfully. Because we had been on this journey before, she knew what I needed even if I didn’t ask for it. We were in sync, which made the birth that much more free-flowing and enjoyable. In fact, things were going so well during my birthing time that Laura actually had to tell the midwife that the baby was about to arrive only after 3 1/2 hours. Having Laura be our doula the second time around solidified for us that we will want Laura to be our doula every time we have a baby.” - Leah G.

…and they did! I doula’d for their third birth as well. We always have such fun and so many laughs as you can see from this picture
