January is National Glaucoma Awareness Month 👁️💚 — a reminder to protect something we often take for granted: our vision.

Glaucoma is known as the “silent thief of sight” because it often has no early symptoms, yet it can cause permanent vision loss if not detected early.

Why this matters for Veterans 🇺🇸
• Black/African American adults are up to 5x more likely to develop glaucoma
• Risk can begin as early as age 40 ⏳
• Glaucoma tends to progress faster and more severely when undiagnosed ⚠️
