As Physical Therapy Month wraps up, we wanted to highlight some local adaptive sports and activity opportunities for kids in our community.

A big part of physical therapy is helping your child build independence. When they’re ready to discharge from PT, we want to make sure they have meaningful ways to stay active and continue developing skills like strength, balance, and coordination. Adaptive sports can be a fun and empowering way for your child to keep growing and thriving beyond PT!

Parents sometimes wonder: When should I consider PT for my child?

Here are a few signs that may be worth checking in with a pediatric PT:

✨ Trouble keeping up with peers
✨ Difficulty learning new motor skills (stairs, jumping, riding a trike)
✨ Toe walking that doesn’t go away
✨ Challenges with coordination or balance/frequent falls
✨ Pain that doesn't go away
✨ Asymmetry in movement patterns
✨ Any time a parent/guardian has concerns

Every child develops at their own pace ❤️, but if you’re noticing these patterns or you have concerns, PT may help build skills and confidence.
