If you’re looking for an ideal example of inner peace, just look at a healthy, cared for dog.

Sprawled carelessly in a ray of sun.
Rolling playfully in a freshly washed blanket.
Running haphazardly through the yard.

They live in every moment.
Contented.

They’re not fretting over to dos. The chipmunk will get chased. The yard will get dug. The butt will be sniffed. When it happens.

And in between?

Nothing but unfettered contentment and peace.

Give yourself grace. Let yourself exist. Be more dog-like.

As the leaves fall and the nights grow longer, it can be easy to get stuck in a place of grind or die. Especially for women. We typically tend to carry a lot more responsibility and in turn, stress.
Sometimes it unleashes itself in a good Netflix cry.
Other times it looks like the bottom of a tray of cookies.
Regardless, we take on a lot.

Women are also prone to dealing with misdiagnosed pain, anxiety and even heart attacks (yeah.) so getting a handle on that mental load is a must.

That can look like a lot of different things to different people.
It can be an ongoing journal, allowing your stress to spill onto the page.
It can look like a session with a therapist who understands you.
It can be practicing mindful breathwork to ground yourself.

Whatever it looks like to you, now is the time to focus on that. We’re heading into holiday season. And while ‘joy’ may be the word of the day, to a lot of us it comes with, at least, a shred of dread: Added priorities. New responsibilities. And the desire to create a “perfect” holiday. For our families. For our friends. For ourselves.

Let this be a mantra: perfect doesn’t exist. There’s simply finding happiness in your life.

This time of year is kind of nuts. We’re starting the day in the dark and, some of us, ending the day in the dark, too. It’s hard not to begin to feel like a vampire without a victim.

The sheer lack of vitamin D hitting our skin is enough to drive anyone batty so it’s important to keep things in check.

It doesn’t have to be 85 and scorching for those vitamin D-filled rays to work their magic! Eat your lunch outside. Park a little farther away at the store. Grab that vitamin D when and where you can.

It’s also important to be sure you’re staying hydrated and eating well. Positivity has a direct tie to the gut, so nourish yourself.

And remember, the earth will turn. And the light will return.

Thoughts happen. It’s our response that dictates their outcome.
In lieu of reacting try quiet acknowledgment and mindful release.

Imagine your thought is a cat. Sat adorably on your table. It makes eye contact with you while staring at some random object near the edge. It’s going to push it off.
You know it.
They know it.
You cannot tell a cat not to.

Embrace what will come, and work on a remedy and a way to prevent it in the future. (note: this works better with thoughts than cats because they WILL find something, somewhere to push off)

But you can rewrite the inner narrative. Slowly, with mindful acceptance and release.

And it will get easier, and easier when you let it go.
In relinquishing control, you actually gain more.

👻Once upon a time, they stared at their phone; their email list. Both red with unread echoes of things to do, things to say, promises to keep.
And they ... turned it off.

Not because they didn’t care.
Not because they wouldn’t follow through ... eventually.
But because they decided that, for them, right now, becoming a ghost sounded just right.

So they did.

They didn’t check their texts, or DMs. They stopped scrolling. They didn’t anguish over lists. Instead, they let themselves float in the ether. They finished something they’d wanted to do for ages.
They took a nap.
They ghosted the stress.
They ghosted the worry.
They ghosted the demands.

And everyone lived happily ever after.

⚡Trauma can show up in ways you might not expect. Pay attention to YOUR body. Fatigue, stomach issues, irritability, even difficulty concentrating can all be connected. If you notice these patterns, it may be your body asking for healing.

✔ Try writing down what's on your mind for a few days. If you notice a recurring issue, focus on that and what, if any, bodily triggers you may notice it brings.
✔ Be mindful of what you're doing, or were just doing when certain health issues "appear out of the blue." Maybe those weird headaches aren't as random as you thought.
✔ Take note of how you feel throughout the day. Be mindful of any "triggers" that prelude stress, anxiety or even a tightness in your throat.

Understanding yourself and your body are great ways to open the understanding of your own trauma and can be one of the first steps to overcoming its internal and external effects.
