Keys AHEC The mission of Florida Keys AHEC is to provide direct medical, community health, and educational services through community-based partnerships.

Vision Statement: To improve access to affordable medical services and health programs. Keys AHEC (Florida Keys Area Health Education Center, Inc)

Keys AHEC is a non-profit organization based in Monroe County, FL that provides no cost medical and low cost dental care to the students of Monroe County School District. Collectively both programs provide over 10,000 patient visits and 72,000 services annually. Most families we serve are from low to moderate income homes where affordable healthcare is not available to them. Keys AHEC is dedicated to ensuring these children have access to quality healthcare. Along with our medical and dental clinics, we also provide health professional education and support, tobacco cessation and community health programs addressing local health care issues. The Florida AHEC Network has, over this past decade, addressed the primary health care needs of Florida's most vulnerable populations through a series of innovative strategies designed to:

Extend Academic Health Resources
Provide Information and Support for Community Providers
Influence Health Professions Education
Influence the Future Health Professional Work Force

ATTENTION PARENTS OF SCHOOL ATHLETES! In June 2025, the Florida Legislature passed Senate Bill 1070, known as the Second Chance Act, to help detect heart conditions that may lead to sudden cardiac arrest in student-athletes and prevent needless tragedies. Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, high school students (grades 9–12) who are participating for the first time in interscholastic athletic competition, practice, tryouts, or workouts sanctioned by the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) are required to receive a medical evaluation and an EKG before participation.
Keys AHEC has prepared for these requirements and will be able to provide the screenings necessary for Monroe County School District student athletes!
