Nick Engel, PT DPT, is a physical therapist, fitness enthusiast, athlete, husband, dad, and coffee connoisseur. His interests include: manual/hands-on therapy, functional strength training, cycling, running, nutrition and wellness. degree in Applied Exercise Physiology from Texas A&M University and later earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Hardin-Simmons University. I believe follow incentives and the person paying the bill is the one served. If insurance is paying the bill, you are basically a means to bill an insurance company (as much as possible). And the clinic is working to dot all the ‘i’s’ and cross all the ‘T’s’ to keep the insurance happy. Conversely, if you pay for it, you are the one being made happy. And since the quality is better, net/net, you may actually be out of pocket more cheaply than paying a bunch of co-pays
