Watermark ladies enjoyed an afternoon show at the Marco Island Center for the Arts “Baggage” by Sam Bobrick and directed by Pattie Ziesig. Lots of laughter and memorable moments were shared by all. We look forward to seeing more great shows!

Chef Salvatore Pezzella is hoping to accomplish something a chef in a senior living community
has never done before. Our Executive Director Robyn Johnson is nominating our head chef for
the James Beard award. If he wins, Chef Salvatore will be the first senior living chef to receive
this prized culinary achievement.

“The first time I visited Watermark, I said I have an opportunity to make something special
here,” he told McKnight's Senior Living. “The mentality at Watermark is very original — focusing
on longevity and health — and I have the opportunity to tell my story and the story of Marco
Island through food.”

Yesterday, we witnessed something truly special. It’s been over three years since Nancy was able to go to the beach with her husband, Dan — who is living with early-onset dementia and resides here at The Watermark at Marco Island.

Watching them walk along the sand, feeling the ocean breeze together again, was nothing short of beautiful. The joy, the love, the memories — all came rushing back in that moment. 💕

These are the moments that remind us how powerful connection can be, no matter where life takes us.

Our residents had such a wonderful time participating in the Marco Island Trick-or-Treat Parade hosted by Wesley United Methodist Church. 🧡 They loved passing out candy and watching all the little ones show off their amazing costumes. Thank you to the church and community for such a fun and festive day! 👻🕸️🎃

What does it take to become the head chef at a senior living community? For our Chef Salvatore Pezzella, it’s the result of decades in the restaurant industry, mastering his craft in “blue zones” including Sardinia, and harnessing his skills and passion to bring nutritious and memorable meals to seniors. “I realized that my life’s work is to make people happy with food,” Chef Salvatore told Argentum. “When I work with seniors, I think of my mom, dad and grandma and how I love taking care of them with my food. This is why I cook.”
