Kenneth (Ken) Lee Phillips, 72, of Bedford, IN passed away at White River Lodge in Bedford on Sunday, October 12, 2025.

He was born on July 19,1953, in Bedford, IN to Wendell and Joyce (Godsey) Phillips.

Ken was a skilled carpenter and owned and operated Premier Remodeling for many years. Ken loved the outdoors and especially taking trips out west to hunt elk with his friends. He loved to joke with friends and family bringing laughter to many people during his lifetime. Ken enjoyed telling stories of his early years at Springville with many of his school buddies and the mischievous things they would do.

Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Shawn. His parents, Wendell and Joyce, and a brother, Alan Phillips.

Ken is survived by 2 daughters, Shanae (Jason) Lassos, Shellie (Philip) Epps and 2 grandchildren, Michael and Ashley, all of San Diego, CA. Sisters, Kathy Phillips, Kay (Jim) Churchman, a brother Doug (Lori) Phillips, a sister-in-law, Marilyn (Alan) Phillips and several nephews and nieces.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 12:00 PM at the Springville Cemetery West in Springville, IN. Rev. Keith Thompson will officiate the service.

With summer coming to a close and students heading back to school, we want to take a minute to thank our amazing summer intern, Sydnee Wittmer!

Sydnee has been a caring, respectful, and compassionate presence in our funeral home. With a true heart for serving others, she’s been a wonderful addition to our team these past few months.

A 2024 graduate of Loogootee High School, Sydnee is now entering her second year at Vincennes University, where she’s pursuing an Associate of Science degree to become a licensed Funeral Director.

We’re so proud of the work she’s done and grateful for the time she spent with us this summer. Sydnee has gained valuable hands-on experience and has made a positive impact in the community.

Best of luck this school year, Sydnee — we can’t wait to see all that you accomplish!
