COMMUNITY SAFETY ALERT – OVERDOSE INCREASE

The North Vernon Police Department wants to make our community aware of a recent uptick in overdose calls. Over the last several days, officers have responded to multiple overdoses in a short period of time, including one incident believed to have resulted in a fatality.

We urge everyone to remain cautious. If you or someone you know is struggling with substance use, please look out for each other and do not hesitate to seek help. Quick action saves lives.

Free Narcan locations (Naloboxes in Jennings County):
• Wayside Inn – front area
• Centerstone – by the back door
• St. Vincent Jennings Hospital – front entrance
• CSL – behind the old Changing Station

These boxes are stocked and available 24/7.

Here are additional resources:
• Never Use Alone Hotline: 1-800-484-3731
Website: share.google/OPq0ZSAxEr4DBDRnz
• For an overdose in progress, call 911
• For crisis mental health support, call 988
• Local support: Outcast Arms Outreach – Executive Director Jeremy Bays and David Carr
• 180 RCO – Peer Support: Brooke Lane

If anyone is needing Narcan, has questions, or needs help, please reach out. You are loved, you do matter, and you are worth it.

Quote from Task Force Commander Heffelfinger:
“The dangers we’re seeing right now are real, and they’re hitting families in our community hard. If you or someone you care about is using, please know that Narcan is free, it’s accessible, and it can give someone another chance to get help. One minute can make the difference between life and death.”

As always, if you witness an overdose, call 911 immediately.

Stay safe, North Vernon. We are here for you.
