🌷🐣 Happy Easter from NeuroLIFE Institute! 🧠✨

This season is a reminder of renewal, hope, and new beginnings — themes that beautifully reflect the brain’s incredible ability to adapt and grow.

Just as spring brings fresh starts, the brain demonstrates remarkable neuroplasticity — the ability to rewire, strengthen connections, and continue evolving throughout life.

Wishing you a joyful Easter filled with peace, celebration, and time with those who matter most.

Here’s to renewal — in life and in brain health. 🌸

🧠✨ Brain Quiz Time!

How many miles of vasculature are present in the average human brain?

Drop your guess below 👇

The brain may only weigh about three pounds, but its vascular network is incredibly dense — delivering oxygen and nutrients through an intricate system that supports every thought, movement, and function.

Watch the short video for the answer!

🏀 Bracket Busted? Let’s Talk Brain Power.

Selecting a perfect college basketball bracket by random guessing carries odds of approximately 1 in 9.2 quintillion (1 in 9.2 × 10¹⁸). To put that into perspective…

🧠 The human brain contains about 86 billion neurons
🔗 Forming roughly 100 trillion synaptic connections

And just how big is a quintillion?
It’s a thousand trillions, or a billion billions.

The takeaway? The odds of a perfect bracket may be astronomically small — but the power of your brain is absolutely extraordinary.

Even when your bracket is broken, your brain isn’t. Thanks to neuroplasticity, the brain has an incredible ability to adapt, reorganize, and rewire through its vast network of connections.

Don’t let a busted bracket ruin your day.
Let’s focus on strengthening the most important network of all — your brain.

🐼 Happy National Panda Day!

Fun Fact: During a teaching trip to China last year, NeuroLIFE Director Dr. Dominic Fetterly had the opportunity to visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding — the largest panda research and conservation facility in the world.

This memorable visit took place while Dr. Fetterly was in China leading an educational initiative, sharing the insights and objectives of chiropractic functional neurology with students and practitioners. It was an incredible opportunity to connect across cultures, advance neurological education, and, of course, see these amazing animals up close.

At NeuroLIFE Institute, we’re proud to contribute to global education in brain health and functional neurology.

⏰ Drive Safely After the Daylight Saving Time Change

Please use extra caution on the roads today following the “spring ahead” time change.

A 2020 study published in Current Biology found an increase in motor vehicle accident risk associated with the daylight saving transition. Fatal crashes were more likely later in the day after the time change — despite having more daylight hours. The risk was highest the day immediately following the shift and gradually declined over the course of the week.

The impact was more pronounced in Eastern states compared to the Western U.S., likely due to greater circadian misalignment caused by later sunrises. When sunrise occurs later and daylight extends further into the evening, our internal clocks (circadian rhythms) may need time to adjust.

Even a one-hour shift can affect sleep, alertness, reaction time, and decision-making.

🚗 Be mindful.
💤 Prioritize rest.
⚠️ Stay alert.

⏰ Don’t Forget to Spring Forward!

On Sunday, March 8, 2026, clocks move forward one hour as Daylight Saving Time begins

At NeuroLIFE Institute, we know even a one-hour shift can impact your sleep, mood, focus, and overall brain performance. Here are a few quick tips to help your brain adjust smoothly:

🧠 Start shifting your bedtime 15–20 minutes earlier a few days before March 8
🌅 Get morning sunlight to help reset your internal clock
📵 Limit screen time before bed
☕ Avoid late-day caffeine

Small changes can make a big difference in how you feel next week. Let’s prioritize healthy sleep and optimal brain function together!

💖 We hope you had a great Valentine’s Day! 💖

Did you know oxytocin is often called the “love hormone” or “cuddle hormone”? 🧠✨

Although love is complex, oxytocin is released during touch, intimacy, and even during and shortly after childbirth 🤱💞. It’s produced in the hypothalamus and released by the posterior pituitary gland, playing a key role in bonding, social connection, and reproduction.

🧪 Neurochemistry is amazing — and a strong, healthy brain helps these systems function properly!
