The traditional approach to getting treatment involves visiting a doctor first, waiting for a diagnosis, and then receiving a referral to physical therapy. That means more appointments, more waiting, and probably more medication and imaging that you did not need.

The internet, social media, and “professionals” with zero clue:
"Just stretch every day to fix your tightness!"

Me: stretches religiously for 2 weeks

Also me: Still broken. Just more flexible about it.



Why? Because tightness is usually not about short muscles — it’s your nervous system throwing up a warning flag. It’s a sensation, not a length issue.

Real solution? Strength training. Build resilience, not just range.

Don’t be afraid to exercise because you think it might “damage” your joints. The real harm comes from not moving.

A lack of regular movement contributes far more to joint and overall health decline than safe, appropriate exercise ever will.

It’s frustrating that misinformation—sometimes even from healthcare providers—continues to scare people away from activity. And yes, social media plays a role in spreading these myths, too.
