Embracing the Yin Energy of Autumn Through Qigong and Tai Chi
Autumn is the beginning of the profound powers of the Yin (feminine) cycle of the year as daylight shortens toward the long nights at the very midpoint of Winter - Solstice.
The practice of Qigong and Tai Chi (Taiji) is an invitation to live and honor the seasons of a year, the seasons of a day, the seasons of a project, the seasons of a relationship, and the seasons of a life.
Autumn is the time of harvest, of celebrating the fruits of Spring and Summer, gathering and preparing for the colder, darker, more introspective season of Winter.
It is an especially unique time as the celebration of the harvest is accompanied by the challenge of letting go - like leaves releasing from the branch, drifting in cheerful indifference. It is a perfect time to contemplate and seek to restore balance - in the world and within ourselves.
The true gift of Fall / Autumn is not so much getting what we wished for, but rather the gift of all we have received. From cultivating Qigong, we know that what actually occurs is far more profound than what we would have wished for -- that, perhaps, did not occur.
Celebrate - harvest - what this Spring and Summer has given and store the energies of the West in the marrow of your bones.
Another profound invitation from the Qi paradigm is to recognize our stressors as a reminder to "make a medicine of our challenges and opportunities."
As we navigate this season of letting go, may we find peace in the release and joy in the abundance of our experiences. Together, let us celebrate the profound gifts of Autumn, inviting the quiet wisdom of the season to guide us into a transformative winter ahead.
