We are happy to share this post from the Texas 4-H Water Ambassadors.

The Texas 4 H Water Ambassadors Program empowers youth across our state to become leaders in water education, conservation, and stewardship. Their mission—to cultivate knowledgeable young Texans who understand the value of our most precious resource—perfectly aligns with the commitment we uphold every day at Green Valley Special Utility District.

At Green Valley SUD, our mission is simple but vital:

When young Water Ambassadors learn how water systems work, explore conservation practices, and engage their communities, they are stepping into the same legacy of stewardship that drives our work. Together, we’re building a future where Texas communities continue to have access to safe, dependable water—and where the next generation is ready to protect and innovate for the long term.

🌟 Job Shadow Day at Green Valley Special Utility District! 🌟

Today, Seguin and Marion High School Juniors and Seniors joined us for an immersive Job Shadow Day, designed to help students explore real‑world career pathways while gaining a deeper understanding of how essential water and wastewater services operate.

Job Shadow Day supports Green Valley SUD’s mission by giving students a firsthand look at the people, processes, and technology that keep safe drinking water flowing and ensure wastewater is responsibly treated.

Students began their day in the Board Room at our headquarters, where they received an overview of what it means to be a Special Utility District and how we serve our growing communities.

From there, students explored key operational areas, including:

💧 How wastewater is tested and treated at the Santa Clara Creek Water Reclamation Facility and Lab
📟 How meters are installed, read, and tested to ensure accurate water usage
🛠️ How leaks are located and repaired, and the incredible power of water pressure in the system
⚙️ How motors and pumps operate to move water throughout the district
🧪 How water quality is tested to ensure every drop meets safety standards
🌐 How the SCADA system monitors water movement from wholesale providers to storage tanks and ultimately to homes
🙋 A Q&A session with GVSUD leadership and supervisors, giving students a chance to learn directly from professionals in the field

We’re proud to support the next generation through hands‑on learning and career exploration. Thank you to all the students who participated—your curiosity and enthusiasm made the day a success! Thank you to the Seguin Economic Development Corporation for all you do to strength the workforce pipeline in the region.

💧 Happy National Water Week, GVSUD customers! 💧
This is a great time to do a quick check around your home for water leaks. Even small drips from faucets, toilets, or irrigation systems can waste a surprising amount of water over time.
A few minutes of checking can help conserve water and save you money on your bill. Thanks for helping us protect our precious water resources! 🌎💙

Mark your calendars for Fix a Leak Week, March 16-22! With household leaks wasting nearly 1 trillion gallons of water yearly, it's essential to track down those drips. Need help finding and fixing them? Check out the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency WaterSense site for useful resources at https://www.epa.gov/watersense/fix-leak-week.

🌟 Scouts + Conservation = A Cleaner, Greener Texas! 🌟
We’re excited to share this awesome opportunity showing how Scouts can earn a special patch while helping keep the Green Valley region—and all of Texas—beautiful! 💚✨

At Green Valley SUD, we know that protecting our natural resources starts long before water enters our system. When young leaders step up to remove litter, care for the land, and support conservation projects, they’re helping safeguard the very watersheds and environments that keep our drinking water clean, pure, and sustainable. 💧🌎

Scouting and water stewardship go hand in hand. The values of responsibility, service, and respect for the outdoors perfectly reflect our mission to provide reliable, sustainable, clean water through innovative, professional service.
So here’s a big shout‑out to all the Scouts doing their part—you’re helping protect the future of our water, our community, and our beautiful Texas home. Keep up the great work! 👏💙

Calling all Scouts! 🌟 You can earn a patch while doing your part to keep our state beautiful and learning about conservation. 🌳🏅 Learn more here 👉 https://ow.ly/x6BM50YoPgF

💧 It’s National Groundwater Awareness Week! 💧
Did you know that Green Valley Special Utility District’s drinking water comes from some of Texas’ most important aquifers? Our local wells draw from the Edwards Aquifer and the Trinity Aquifer, providing a vital groundwater supply for our growing communities. We also supplement our system with additional groundwater from Wells Ranch and surface water from Lake Dunlap, delivered through the Canyon Regional Water Authority.
Groundwater is a precious, invisible resource—and protecting it ensures clean, reliable water for families across the Green Valley service area. This week, we celebrate the science behind our water and the aquifers that keep our taps flowing. 🌍💙

It’s National Groundwater Awareness Week! that in Texas, 9 major aquifers and 22 minor aquifers supply approximately 55% of all the water 💧 used in the state? Learn more about groundwater in Texas at https://bit.ly/TexasAquifers.
