STOP Believing These 5 Menopause Myths 🚫

1️⃣ “Menopause happens overnight.”
Not usually. Most women go through perimenopause first, which can last years.

2️⃣ “You just have to suffer through it.”
False. Hot flashes, sleep problems, dryness, mood changes, and more often have treatment options.

3️⃣ “Hormone therapy is unsafe for everyone.”
Not true. For many women, it can be safe and effective when individualized appropriately.

4️⃣ “Weight gain is automatic.”
Menopause can make it easier to gain weight, but lifestyle habits still matter greatly.

5️⃣ “Low s*x drive means it’s over.”
Often it’s related to dryness, discomfort, stress, or sleep issues, many of which are treatable.

Women deserve facts, not fear. Too much of women’s health gets dismissed or misunderstood. A tragic little tradition society keeps polishing.

Which myth have you heard the most?

Bleeding after menopause is never something to brush off. ACOG recently updated guidance, and for many women, evaluation may involve more than just an ultrasound. Early attention can matter. If you or someone you love has postmenopausal bleeding, get checked. Share this with someone who needs to hear it.

Some moments in medicine are filled with celebration. Others call for silence, compassion, and remembrance. Today was about honoring precious lives gone too soon and standing with families carrying loss. No one should grieve alone. 🤍

If you’ve experienced pregnancy loss, you are seen, remembered, and not forgotten.

“Why would a man become an OB/GYN?”

Because this work matters. Family experiences shaped me early, and medicine showed me where I could make the biggest impact.

Helping women through major life moments, hard seasons, and joyful ones is a privilege.

I’d choose this path again.

What made you choose your career?

Throwback Thursday.

Around 2003, as a college sophomore, I became discouraged and changed my major from premed to Computer Science. The road to medicine felt too long and life felt heavy.

Then I read Gifted Hands by Dr. Ben Carson. That book reignited something in me. I went back to the registrar’s office and changed my major back to premed.

Years later, I had the chance to meet him when he spoke at my medical school.

Funny how one book, one person, or one moment can redirect an entire life. Keep going. Your story may be turning right now.

What’s one moment, person, or piece of advice that changed your path or helped you see something differently?

Many people hear “hysterectomy” and think there’s only one type of surgery. Not true. The right approach depends on the patient, anatomy, diagnosis, prior surgeries, and goals. Education first, panic never.

Surgery day.

Two women trusted me with their care today. One robotic hysterectomy. One robotic resection of endometriosis. Different diagnoses, same mission: relieve pain, restore quality of life, and do the work with precision.

These are the moments people don’t always see, the planning, focus, teamwork, and responsibility behind every case. Grateful for the skill, the team, and the opportunity to help.

What’s one question or topic about women’s health you wish more people talked about openly?

Office visits, inductions, robotic hysterectomies, office procedures, resident teaching… all packed into this week.

Helping people is why I chose this line of work. Every patient encounter matters, and every resident I teach reminds me that learning never stops.

That sense of purpose is fuel for the long days.

Hope you find joy in what you do, meaning in the effort, and momentum for the week ahead.

What’s one thing giving you purpose this week, or one goal you’re chasing?

Let’s go! 💪🏾

Sometimes the best treatment is not doing more. Sometimes it’s finally ending years of suffering.

A hysterectomy should be an informed decision, not a rushed one.

Sunday perspective. ☀️

Spent my birthday in the OR, then the night caring for patients on L&D. Today, finally getting a chance to slow down and celebrate with family over a birthday lunch. Human beings delaying cake for surgery, a timeless profession.

One of the underrated blessings in medicine is working with people you trust. Grateful for a strong resident & nursing team helping keep things moving today and for the kind of teamwork that allows everyone to breathe once in a while.

Whether you’re working or resting today, I hope you find a moment to reset and enjoy the people who matter most.

How are you spending your Sunday today: working, resting, or family time?

Happy Sunday. ✨

When a mother experiences a loss prior to 20 weeks the grief and pain can become overwhelming. Thinking about what to do after the loss can become stressful and costly on the family.

When a mother experience an early loss prior to 20 weeks, Marion Health and Needham Story Wamper Funeral Services came together to offer a free service of communal cremation.

Upon choosing this service, remains will be cremated and placed at a beautiful memorial located at Grant Memorial Park, 1606 W. 26th Street in Marion.
This serene location offers parents and families, a place to visit, grieve, morn, and celebrate their precious one forever. And because it is a free service, it helps to lessen the burden of cost on the grieving family.

The beautiful Angel Memorial statue is located in the cremation garden within Grant
Memorial Park. Every year in April we hold a memorial service at Grant Memorial Park Chapel to then remember those losses of the previous year. However, the ceremony is open to anyone who has ever experienced a loss at any stage of pregnancy.

The photo below shows our beautiful memorial.
We hope you join us at this years service April 26th at 2:00pm
