On National Vietnam War Veterans Day, we honor the millions who served during one of America’s longest conflicts.

• More than 2.7 million Americans served in Vietnam, with 9 million on active duty during the Vietnam era.

• Over 58,000 never returned home.

• Greater than 1,600 remain missing in action.

Many came back without recognition and carried invisible wounds for decades. Today, Honor Flights, national ceremonies, and this recognition day are a few of the meaningful ways the long-overdue appreciation they deserved is offered.

To all Vietnam Veterans and families standing by them, thank you. We will always remember and honor your service, sacrifices, and legacy.

We would like to take this moment to say THANK YOU to our departing Executive Director, Zachary Sage! Mr. Sage has been selected to serve as the new Executive Director of the Cincinnati VA Medical Center effective March 22nd. We appreciate your leadership, support, transparency, and dedication to our mission!

“Zachary Sage’s extensive leadership experience, along with his dedication to improving Veteran care, make him an exceptional choice for this role,” said interim Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 10 Director Jill Dietrich Mellon, who oversees VA Medical Centers across Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan.

Zach first joined the VA family as a Medical Support Assistant at the Lexington VA Medical Center in 2007. His executive experience includes serving as Associate Director for the Texas Coastal Bend VA Health Care System, the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport, LA, and the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, IL prior to reaching his leadership role at Marion, IL, in 2022. Mr. Sage earned his master’s degree in Health Administration and bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of Kentucky. He is a graduate of the Senior Leadership Program at George Washington University and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).

When informing Marion VA Staff of the transition, Zach stated “I’m so thankful for the way we honor and serve our Veterans at the Marion VA Health Care System. The commitment, professionalism, and heart each of you bring to our mission inspire me every day, and that spirit will always stay with me.”

Marion VA Associate Director Fred Roche will serve as the Interim Executive Director until recruitment for a permanent director is completed.
