Our new Crochet Group kicked off , and the creativity and talent in the room were incredible!

We loved seeing residents teach one another, share tips, and cheer each other on. Moments like these remind us that it’s never just about the hobby — it’s about connection, joy, and community.

Our residents don’t just crochet… they create gifts with heart. 💕

Today we had a very special visitor at Silver Oak! 🩵

One of our wonderful CNAs brought in her new grandbaby, and several of our residents had the chance to hold and snuggle the little one. It was truly heartwarming to witness — moments like these mean the world to them. 💕

Children bring so much joy and light into our community, and we love how the holiday season has welcomed so many little visitors into our home. ✨

Meet Miss Roxanne Wassmer, whose journey at Silver Oak is nothing short of inspiring!

“When I came to Silver Oak, I couldn’t walk — but after working with the amazing PT and OT team, that changed! They always encouraged me to push myself as much as I could handle. Everyone here was so helpful, kind, and encouraging. The nurses and aides knew me so well — they’d even notice when my face got flushed and check to see if I was okay. The kitchen staff always greeted me by name (which meant so much!) and the cleaning crew did a wonderful job while being so pleasant to talk to. Sherina at the front desk is awesome — truly an asset! Nurse Dannette and aide My’lynn were so caring and always made sure I had what I needed. And Alison went above and beyond, even helping me and my daughter after hours to get me transferred here quickly. I’d recommend Silver Oak to anyone — not just for rehab, but for long-term care too. If I ever need care again, I’m coming back here. I wouldn’t go anywhere else!”

From Haunted Trails to Festival of Lights ✨

Proud to have our tree on display this weekend at Lindale Mall for the Festival of Lights fundraiser, supporting our Cedar Rapids community!

Our Silver Oak crew decorated like it’s The Nightmare Before Christmas… and yes, some of us placed ornaments with surgical precision—and clutched our pearls when one was 2 millimeters off.

🎃👻Haunted Trails at Silver Oak was a spooktacular success! Our halls came alive with laughter, costumes, and candy galore as families from our team and community joined our residents for an unforgettable night of trick-or-treating.
The smiles, joy, and spooky fun left our residents and team absolutely glowing — it was truly a night to remember! ✨
This magical evening reminded us just how special it is when generations come together. Thank you to everyone who joined in on the fun — we’re beyond inspired and can’t wait to make this an annual tradition! 💜
