🟣 Thursday of Nursing Home Week! 🟣 Residents played a game like hot potato, but passed a lei necklace instead. After their activity, staff was asked to identify the candy bars by looking only at a picture of the inside of the candy bar. Next, a left/right game was played about the Wright Family Vacation. The bags were to be passed to the right and left when the words right and left were read in the story. At the end some of the bags had cash inside and some were empty. This afternoon a game of Resident/Staff Bingo was played. A ”Candy Bar” was provided.

🟠 Wednesday of Nursing Home Week! 🟠 The first activity of the day was Fill The Glass Challenge. The point of the game was to take turns pouring water in the glass and not be the one who causes the water to spill over the top of the glass! Next, items including gift cards and other random items were wrapped in plastic wrap to form a ball. The group of staff passed it and if the music stopped, they were to unwrap it until they unwrapped a prize. Sheroderick was our DJ for the game. This afternoon the aroma of popcorn filled the dining room and a game of bean bag toss was played. Vannette did an excellent job on making the popcorn “just right!” Alicia Williams was our staff winner this afternoon. Cotton candy was also given.

🔵 Tuesday of Nursing Home Week! 🔵 The morning activities were started off with some spiritual words and singing. A game of bottle ring toss was played. We had a resident tie and Erma ended up winning. There was great competition between the staff and Otis Moore won a McDonald’s gift card and some cash. Dr. Hodo was in the house and even tossed some rings. This afternoon, soft pretzels were served and there were different types of mustards to choose from for dipping. Sand art was the afternoon activity where there were ink pens or smiley faces to choose from to decorate with the colored sand.

🟢Monday of Nursing Home Week! 🟢This morning grab and go food brunch type food was provided by Comfort Care Hospice. Angela Rose and Mallory Johnson provided the activity for our Residents and staff. Afterwards, a group went outside where they blowed some bubbles and a bubble machine was used. Bubbles have a way of bringing out the inner child even in older adults. We had a popcorn piñata with yummy candy inside! This afternoon a Spin The Wheel game was played where residents and staff took a chance of winning a prize. Corn dogs were served afterwards.

We had a “Muffins for Moms” social this morning. Some of the ladies really enjoyed being treated at the 9:00 activity. Soft music playing really added to the atmosphere. There were chocolate chip, blueberry and banana nut muffins to choose from. Some staff also came in and wished them a Happy Mothers Day and enjoyed a muffin as well! If You Give Mom a Muffin poem was read and Ms. Erma asked the blessing before they began eating. A resident mentioned about her older sister raising her after her Mom passed.
