Some might say this is a generalization about therapists but I no longer think that is true. I think this applies to some who are afraid to walk into the deep with a client. There are also some clients who look for this in order to avoid. Seek the fit that is right for you where you are and are willing to go.

They call themselves therapists, but sometimes they aren’t about healing at all. They’re about avoiding. With little more than “it’s all Good” and ‘Perpetual Positivity Syndrome’ in their toolbox, they steer you away from your unresolved trauma, just like they steered themselves away from theirs. A therapist can only take you as far as they have gone. And if they are still stuck in a faux positivity loop, they will do everything they can to bring you there too. Because hovering above the pain is where they live. Because their habitual range of emotion is restricted to their comfort zone. Beware the avoidapist who is more comfortable in the shallows than the deeps. They will waste your precious time and f*ck you up good. Find the therapist who has walked the deep road, and who can accompany you on your journey. That's the one you want.
