Indiana State Police Investigating Death at Marion Health Hospital

Grant County– Today, November 30, 2025, Indiana State Police Detectives initiated an investigation at the request of Marion City Police Department into the death of Marion Health Police Officer Ronnell J. Johnson, 25, of Marion, IN.

The preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 6:00 a.m., officers from the Indiana State Police, Grant County Sheriff's Office, Marion City Police Department, and the Marion Health Police Department responded to an emergency involving Officer Johnson. Marion Health Hematology/Medical Oncology was honored to help bring a little extra comfort and joy to some of our patients this Thanksgiving. This year, we partnered with Obi’s BBQ in Marion to provide a full Thanksgiving meal for seven of our current chemotherapy patients and their families. Thanks to the generosity of our doctors, nurses, staff, and many community members, we were able to purchase turkeys and all the fixings for each family. Obi’s BBQ then expertly smoked the turkeys, preparing them so that each family could pick up a ready-to-enjoy Thanksgiving turkey! For patients going through chemotherapy, everyday tasks can feel overwhelming, and holidays can be especially challenging. Our goal with this project was simple: to make the day a little easier, to remind our patients that they are not alone, and to show how deeply they are loved and supported by their care team and community. We are incredibly grateful to Obi’s BBQ for sharing their time and talents, and to everyone who donated to make this possible. Together, we’re not just treating cancer—we’re caring for people, one act of kindness at a time
