Smiles of the innocent
bright sparkling eyes
they learn what they see
their days filled with surprise.

They discover through play
parents guide and they follow. They're the light of today
and the hope of tomorrow.

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Your child’s health and safety are always our top priorities. To better support our families outside of regular office hours, we are transitioning to a professional pediatric nurse triage service called Night Nurse for urgent after-hours concerns.

Contacting our answering service will not change for you. You will still reach out to our dedicated answering service line at 401-586-6108. Urgent needs will then be connected with a registered nurse trained in pediatric care. The nurse will assess your child’s symptoms, provide guidance and determine next steps.

Please note:

· For life-threatening emergencies, difficulty breathing, severe injury, or other critical concerns, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

· This service is intended for urgent medical concerns that cannot wait until the next business day.

· Routine matters such as prescription refills, school forms, appointment scheduling, or non-urgent medication adjustments will be addressed during regular office hours Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM.

· Routine prescription refills should be requested during regular business hours or through the patient portal when available. This helps us ensure safe and accurate medication management.

We believe this transition will improve access to timely, professional guidance and support when you need it after office hours. We at Gleason and Greenfield Pediatrics continue our dedication to providing your child the highest quality pediatric care you’ve come to expect from our practice. We’d also like to remind you that our website www.gleasonandgreenfieldpediatrics.net has resources available under Patient Resources à Health Information including information such as managing fevers, vomiting and concerns for dehydration, and allergies.

Thank you for trusting us with your child’s care.

Warm regards, Gleason & Greenfield Pediatrics

SNAP replacement for households that lose power
Thousands of Massachusetts households are still without power, especially on Cape Cod and Southeastern MA. Replacement of SNAP benefits are available to households that lost power for 4+ hours and had to throw away food they purchased with SNAP. Households have 10 days to report food loss to DTA, and then an additional 10 days to obtain a signed statement from DTA with additional information.

Ways to Report Food Loss:
✔ Report by phone (no need to talk with a live DTA worker), call the DTA Assistance Line: 877 382 2363 (Select language, then press 5, then 1, and follow the prompts).
✔ Report using the DTA’s SNAP Household Misfortune (9B) form (download, print out and upload thru DTAConnect) OR Send in a handwritten note through DTAConnect. Include: Your name and DTA Agency ID (or date of birth), Reason for the food loss and the date the food was lost, the dollar value of the food lost that you bought with SNAP, signature of the head of household along with words: "This statement is signed under the penalty of perjury."

The DTA should replace up to one month's worth of SNAP within 10 days of getting the report of the food loss, or within 2 days of getting the completed DTA form or sworn statement (whichever date is later) More info: DTA’s SNAP Misfortune webpage: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/snap-household-misfortune or Mass Legal Help page: https://www.masslegalhelp.org/public-benefits-ssi/snap-food-benefits/replacement-snap-benefits-emergencies

With widespread power outages continuing after the record blizzard, the Marion Police Department is reminding residents to take precautions to stay safe during winter weather conditions.

Never operate a generator inside a home, garage, or enclosed space, even if doors or windows are open.

Keep generators at least 20 feet from structures and ensure exhaust is directed away from buildings.

Use flashlights instead of candles whenever possible to reduce fire risk.

If using space heaters, keep them at least three feet from anything that can burn and turn them off when sleeping or leaving the room.

Dress in layers and use blankets to stay warm.

Avoid using ovens or stoves as a heat source.

Clear snow from outside vents, including furnace and dryer vents, to prevent dangerous gas buildup.

Check on elderly neighbors and family members who may need assistance.

Stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary so crews can continue response and restoration efforts.

Call 911 immediately if you experience symptoms of carbon monoxide exposure, including headache, dizziness, nausea, or confusion.

Our officers remain on duty and available. Please call 911 if you experience an emergency.
