Our Activities Director, Kisha Sawyer created a SHINE News Room where our SHINE family can share daily announcements, the weather, upcoming activities, and important updates. Yesterday, Kacey stepped up to the mic for the very first time and did an amazing job!

Experiences like this help build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and give our family members the opportunity to practice public speaking while sharing important information with their peers. We love creating spaces where everyone can learn, grow, and shine a little brighter each day.

St. Patrick’s Day, celebrated each year on March 17th, honors Irish culture and the story of St. Patrick. Traditions like wearing green, sharing stories about leprechauns, and celebrating luck and friendship bring a little extra joy to the season.

Like two peas in a pod, Anne and James. 💛

If you know Anne, you know she’s a little spicy… and her list of favorite people is short these days. Right now, James sits proudly at the top of it. And honestly, it’s the sweetest friendship to witness.

There’s something beautiful about getting older, learning that life isn’t about having many people around you, but about the few who truly matter. Moments shared, laughter over a drink, sitting side by side… that’s the good stuff.

Our SHINE family spent Free Friday exploring beautiful Town of Black Mountain! ☀️

We stopped by Black Mountain Fire Department where Nick was an incredible host, sharing challenge coins and patches with Josh and taking photos with our crew. Then it was off to enjoy the giant rocking chairs and gardens around town before heading to an amazing lunch at Louise's Kitchen.

Days like this are good for the soul. Our SHINE family had such a great time soaking up the beautiful weather, enjoying the lake and the trails. Now we’re just counting down the days until picnic lunches, swimming, and full-on summer fun!
