Thankful for these hard workers. Thankful for our athletes doing the Gallop for the Gravy. Thankful for those sleeping in and having a day of rest. Thankful for all of you. CrossFit is hard work. But even more CrossFit is community and support. Take a gander at these athletes lifting heavy today. Then check them out having amazing conversations between their lifts. Our coaches are there to guide you during the workout but everyone is there to guide you through life. CrossFit is intimidating for everyone, and that takes a vulnerability that turns into unconditional support. What a blessing to have people like this.

I remember reading .official say there are 6 basic human movements: push, pull, carry, crawl, squat and HINGE. The kettlebell swing is the best version of the hinge that is accessible to anyone. Learning how to use the hips while sparing the spine and knees is paramount for personal health but also activates the largest muscles you have meaning you also get to burn a lot of calories and build muscle. We paired that with handstand push-ups today which can be extremely daunting but you will see multiple flavors/styles performed by our various levels of athletes. Learning how to do a body weight version of an overhead press is awesome for shoulder health and stability! Everyone pushed themselves and grew with this combination!

The thing our gym members hear and know today is going to be much more than they planned on: “simple not easy”. Learning to move your body through space is one of the biggest goals and how we add load varies by degree not type. Here you’ll see multiple different ways of doing lunges and strict pull-ups. None are wrong. The thing about simple not easy means you will be able to push yourself hard and that intensity is what causes the growth (aka soreness). If you can walk you can lunge and there are uncountable ways to scale a pull-up so everyone got stronger today. And for 12 minutes they pushed! Don’t allow the discomfort of not knowing stop you, bc many people think “they can’t do CrossFit” but when it comes to all around health there is no better place to start! (Especially when you have a group like this to do it with you!)

CrossFit has 3 main components - “Cardio”, gymnastics/bodyweight movements and weighted movements. Today’s WOD (workout of the day) had all 3! Every one of these things can be edited or scaled to each athlete’s particular need. You’ll see different speeds/distances for the cardio, different heights for their jumps OR steps, and different weights/implements (bars, dumbbells, KB’s) for their weights. This doesn’t change each individuals ability to find a version that allows them to find intensity- in fact the opposite! By getting what THAT INDIVIDUAL needs they get more out of each session. That’s why we’re so proud of each of our coaches and their ability to help! Anyone can do this! Bring a friend and find out!

The Dumbbell sn**ch is a movement that is beautiful in its simple complexity. Teaching people how to keep their middles engaged so that they can use their strong legs to create a force into their upper body, while at the same time driving a good overhead position works on balance, flexibility, strength, and if you’re moving like this crew- it gets your Heart Rate to the ceiling QUICKLY. Our coaches will encourage you to push yourself, but there isn’t a weight that’s perfect for all- just for you! And the best part is your fellow class members only care that you come and sweat with them. This class had an athlete who was in their second class and one who has done CrossFit for about 7 years. They were both sweaty and smiling at the end. Your ability doesn’t define you nearly as much as your attitude and willingness. The may as you walk into the gym reads “Strength is a Mindset”. Understand there are lots of people who want to see you do your best, and showing up is all it takes! **ch

CrossFit is so INTENSE! Can you believe what they do in there?! I can’t imagine doing CrossFit.

The best way to describe CrossFit- a support group for people brave enough to show up and try to challenge themselves. That’s it. We make you do all the things in order to make you more life-proof. We don’t change by doing what we do well or what we’re comfortable with. “It is only at the fringes of our experience that we change” - Greg Glassman, CrossFit founder.

So come experience all you have to offer yourselves with us. No one cares what you are capable of- they care you show up. Showing up is the hard part. Learning and growing is the fun part when you surround yourself with people like this.

Thank you for your service to all our Veterans

The service you have given to our freedom is not wasted on our community. We value and honor the sacrifices that each of you made in the name of Freedom that we get to celebrate in this great country.

The best way that we know how to celebrate your donation is to push into discomfort to remind us that these freedoms come with a cost. Chad1000x is our gift - 1000 step-ups for time (or 500 with a partner). We also see and wish to support specifically any of our Veteran friends who are struggling. We want you to know that like your time in service you are not alone. In our opinion part of the joy of CrossFit is the fact that you don’t ever have to suffer alone- and we hope you also feel that today.

Happy Veterans Day- especially to all our brothers and sisters who gave that which most of us are too blessed to understand.

What’s your why? It doesn’t matter! Allowing you the capacity to do whatever it is that you’d like to do is the goal. TEACHING you gently how to learn how to do as many things as you want to be able is our goal. These things we do in the gym apply to so many aspects of function that we never think about. The ability to be the fun and functional parent, grandparent, friend is usually one of the biggest driving factors. Don’t be afraid to THRIVE.

Handstand Pushups you say?! Why there are LOTS of ways to learn that skill! Some of our athletes that can’t go upside down so they just did some dumbbell presses, but many played with a modified handstand skill! These people are all so impressive to us coaches - this is a very challenging skill that takes a long time to develop a solid base. There is always a way to learn more ways to control the body in space! Gymnastics strength is IMPRESSIVE and all of these athletes chose some discomfort in order to grow today. Besides body weight control, which is much more challenging than weights or machines, going upside down allows one to learn how to manage blood pressure with your head below your heart! Just proud coaches over here excited to brag on our amazing athletes!

And our coaches and members would ALL agree that ONE thing happens when you come- you’re praised for trying! So stop by and enjoy some fitness with some amazing people who just want to see you be the best you!

“Coach I’m not sure what I can do with this freshly sprained ankle”— We got you fam! Finding ways to make sure you can get your fitness in is NOT a problem! There are no absolute contraindications to some fitness! (Have a feeling that we’ll need to make sure this hard working lady will be gentle enough TBH)
