🌟Employee Spotlight - NFS Week 🥳
Kayte Long, from Nutrition and Food Services (NFS) has been with the district for 16 years. Originally from Kansas, Kayte grew up in the Bay Area, before setting down roots in Mariposa. To her family’s surprise, Kayte having a career in the kitchen is where she feels most comfortable. The atmosphere of everyone in the kitchen is something that Kayte reflects on as being a big reason she enjoys it so much. She especially enjoys spending time with our Ewing Wing residents when delivering their meals.

Having learned almost all of her cooking skills here at JCF, she knows this is a home away from home. In her personal time, Kayte spends time sifting up breads and muffins, but with her JCF chef hat, she is passionate about making sauces.

You can most likely find Kayte, jamming out to some 90’s Country music while she raises her three teenagers, teaching them life skills and common sense, in and out of the kitchen.

Thank you for being apart of our JCF Family Kayte! We appreciate all you do for the kitchen, your teammates, patients and residents.

John C. Fremont Healthcare District Board of Directors Announcement to the Community

Mariposa, CA – To the Mariposa Community including the Staff and Providers at the John C Fremont Healthcare District:

We, as a Board, recognize the challenges that have occurred due to the changes in leadership. It is our highest priority to stabilize the Healthcare District in order to support the incredible work being done by the staff and providers. The JCF Healthcare District belongs to us as a community, and we as a Board respect our role as your liaisons to the District.

At this time, the Board of Directors has appointed Stacey Kuzak, MBA, MSN, RN, as the permanent Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the District, effective October 22, 2025.

The role of a CEO is governed by us as your elected Board of Directors. The CEO then directs the staff of the District overall. We are a five-member board. The opportunity to serve as a Director for the Healthcare District is a privilege, one that demands accountability. We are here to provide a place for the public to engage with how the future of the Healthcare District will look.

The John C Fremont Hospital Foundation (JCFHF), is a non-profit organization led by an incredible team and Board. The JCFHF provides additional ways to engage with the future of healthcare in our region, and we are thankful for their ongoing support and fundraising efforts for the District and the new hospital.

Please join us anytime, for our monthly Regular Board meetings. We encourage participation and depend on public input to help broaden our perspective. In order to move forward, we will all need to work together.

🌟Employee Spotlight 🥳This month, we’re highlighting Ernie Fierro, our awesome EVS Manager! A Fresno transplant, Ernie has been with the district for nearly 7 years. Ernie takes pride in his great EVS team and their overall ability to stay caught up with all things Infection Prevention, as well as keeping the district clean for patients and staff alike.

He reflects on his time with JCF as a positive journey that is family oriented. Ernie loves mountain life and is grateful for the peace and serenity that comes with living here. As a devoted dad to four (with special weekend time for his youngest two), Ernie is a family man through and through, JCF family, family of his own, and his Los Angeles Rams family. Whether walking with teammates or lending an ear, Ernie’s support makes him a standout. Let’s celebrate him this October!
