W.A. Wren, 84, of Joiner, Arkansas departed this life on Thursday, March 26, 2026, in Bartlett, Tennessee. He was born on February 8, 1942, in Booneville, Mississippi to James Vardeman and Virginia Glover Wren.
W.A. was a devoted member of Keiser First Baptist Church, where he served and found great strength in his faith. He dedicated his life to public services and the safety of others. He proudly served thirty years as an Arkansas State Trooper. Following his career with the State Police he continued to serve as Chief of Police in West Memphis, Arkansas for four years. Later he served as Chief Deputy of Enforcement with the Crittenden County Sherriff’s Office. His leadership and commitment to justice has left a lasting impact, and his love for his family will be cherished forever. He will deeply be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers: James Wren and Russell Wren.
W.A. is survived by his loving wife of sixty-six years: Melba Wren of the home, one son: Curt Wren (Renay) of St. Clairsville, Ohio, one daughter: Sherry Felts (Benton) of Joiner, Arkansas, three grandchildren: Wren Felts (Caley) of Joiner, Arkansas, Matthew Wren (Chessie) of Walnut Creek, California, Morgan Wren (John Ferris) of Atlanta, Georgia, two great grandchildren: Hattie Wren Felts and Kaden Koopmann, three nieces: Donna Harris, Laura Sims and Lana Bell, one nephew: Russell Wren, Jr. and a host of other family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at Keiser First Baptist Church on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. and visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Burial will follow at Louise Chapel Cemetery, Joiner, Arkansas.
Brother Todd Vinson and Brother Matt Wynne will officiate the service.
