The Acessa™ System For Treatment of Uterine Fibroids
Fibroids are a real pain, causing heavy periods, bloating, and more. If you suspect you have uterine fibroids or have already been diagnosed with them, the Acessa® procedure is a treatment option that lets you keep your uterus intact. The medical term for the Acessa procedure is laparoscopic radiofrequency ablation (Lap-RFA). Essentially, the doctor delivers heat directly into the fibroid causing it to shrink over time and, in turn, relieve your symptoms. Most patients are cleared to go home within 2 hours and are usually ready to return to work after 4 to 5 days. As with any medical procedure, there are potential risks to consider and discuss with your doctor when making your treatment decision.

Did you know?

Sex-based reimbursement inequities can lead to less investment in women’s health – which results in fewer innovations for patients who can benefit. When women’s health is treated as lower value, research and investment in technological innovation to address female-specific conditions both slow.

Experts are sounding the alarm!

On average, surgeries on female anatomy are reimbursed 30 – 50% less than comparable procedures on male anatomy. What does this mean for women's health? When procedures for women are valued less, it can lead to less investment and innovation in the space.

For how common fibroids are, they aren't talked about nearly enough. 💬

Did you know 3.6 years is the average time women with fibroids wait to seek treatment?¹ That's too long to suffer with symptoms!

Why the wait? Unfortunately, women are often told painful periods and heavy bleeding are normal. We know that's not the case, which is why it's important to talk about fibroids and their symptoms.

If prolonged periods, back pain, and abdominal cramping are interrupting your everyday life, know that you have options. The Acessa® procedure is a minimally invasive solution for fibroid relief.

What questions do you have about fibroids and treatment options?

You know your body better than anyone. If something doesn't feel right, it's time to speak up.

Heavy periods, bloating, and pelvic pain that interfere with your daily life could be your body's way of telling you something is going on. These symptoms might indicate a uterine health issue like fibroids.

Take it from someone who's been there. For as long as Keisha Bennett can remember, she struggled with symptoms—even planning travel around her period. A minimally invasive procedure provided her with relief, and that's possible for you, too.

Confidence starts with knowing your symptoms are valid. The next step is talking to a healthcare professional and learning about treatment options. Get free, personalized support from a nurse advocate: https://ow.ly/VJPi50Xgtu9

Fibroids 101: Did you know not all are the same?

The type and location can impact the symptoms you experience and your treatment options. Here's a breakdown:

🌹 Pedunculated: Connected by a stalk-like stem
🌹 Subserosal: On the outer uterine wall
🌹 Submucosal: Inside the uterine cavity
🌹 Intramural: Within the uterus walls

Not all fibroids cause symptoms or need treatment. But if you're struggling with heavy periods, pain, or other issues, talk to your doctor. There are minimally invasive treatment options that allow you to keep your uterus.

Choosing to have a hysterectomy is a big decision. We understand if you feel discouraged to hear it's your only option for heavy periods.

Meet Leslie Billinglsey, who suffered from bleeding and pain that made it hard for her to leave the house. Repeatedly hearing a hysterectomy was her only option left her feeling hopeless.

Far too many women are put in a similar position, and they deserve to know about other choices.

Leslie asked her doctor about the NovaSure® endometrial ablation, a non-hormonal procedure. It's designed to leave the uterus intact by removing just the uterine lining, which is the part of the body that can cause heavy periods.

Leslie found relief, and you can, too. To learn more about the NovaSure procedure, visit: https://ow.ly/i3Wx50X5fhl

Our Story and FAQ

Dr. Bruce Lee’s fibroid patients all had the same concern. They didn’t want a hysterectomy or a myomectomy. They wanted a better option for them. And he agreed.

It just so happened around the same time, Dr. Lee was evaluating a new technology designed to treat liver-cancer- radiofrequency ablation. After pouring over thousands of pages of research about the science behind radiofrequency ablation, he wondered, if this can be used to shrink liver tumors, could it work for fibroids too?

It did. The Acessa procedure has transformed from a patient’s wish to a reality that is changing the standard of care for fibroids.
