When traditional PT fell short, we came through 🙏

Heather came to us after finishing traditional physical therapy for sciatica. The pain was gone, but the stiffness remained. Her low back mobility was still limited, and no amount of stretching or exercise seemed to fix it 😣

Even with an extensive background in exercise as a yoga teacher, she couldn’t quite resolve the stiffness.

That’s when she found The Wellness Arena.

With dedicated one-on-one care, Dr. Carly focused on what mattered most: the root cause, not just the symptoms 🙌

Week by week, Heather started noticing real changes. More mobility. Less stiffness. More confidence in her body.

Now? Heather is back to her yoga practice, unrestricted and feeling her absolute best 🤩

Stories like Heather’s are why we do what we do. Because everyone deserves to move well and feel their best.

✨ And in Heather’s words: she’d send her entire family here if she could 🥹

If you have a lacrosse ball and a wall, you have one of the best recovery tools out there 🙌

Here Dr. Carly (and her bff) are demoing myofascial release, a technique that applies steady pressure to muscles and fascia to help:
➡️ Decrease tension
➡️ Improve mobility
➡️ Increase blood flow

Here’s what she’s targeting:
🦶 Plantar fascia – to help relieve foot stiffness/soreness from standing, running, or lifting
🙆🏼‍♀️ Pecs – opens the chest and counters desk/phone posture
💪 Rhomboids – great for those knots between the shoulder blades
🍑 Glutes – supports hip mobility and reduces lower back tension

Tip: stay on a tender spot for 1-2 min, breathe slowly, and let the tissue relax instead of fighting the pressure 😌

Sometimes the best recovery tools are the simplest ones 🥍

We hear stories like this all the time. Stories where pain has just become “the norm” that maybe “it’s just part of the job”.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Helping people untangle pain that feels “deeply ingrained” is why we do what we do 🙏

There is nothing better than seeing someone move freely again and hearing, “I feel better today than I ever have.” 🥲

We believe in treating the whole person, not just isolated symptoms. Not just the loudest symptoms.

We are determined to help every single person who walks through our doors to feel the best they ever have.

To rewrite their story. Rewrite their “norm”.

And it’s possible. Dev’s story is a testament to exactly that.

If you’re ready to rewrite your story, we’d be honored to be on your team 🤍

Sheesh! What is that smell? 🥴

It’s your warm-up!? 🤢

We’ll let you in on a little secret: most random stretch routines feel productive, but they’re often just short-term relief dressed up as performance prep.

Touch your toes. Pull your quad. Twist. Kick your leg side to side. Pill your knee to your chest and hope for the best.

Does it feel good? Sure.

Is it improving your strength, control, and resilience long term? Not usually.

A performance warm-up should:
✅ Prepare the specific tissues you’re about to load
✅ Reinforce positions you actually need in your sport/lift
✅ Build capacity— not just “loosen” you up
✅ Create adaptations that last beyond the next 10 minutes

If your warm-up is just a greatest hits playlist of stretches you’ve done since middle school… it might be time to upgrade.

Mobility without strength is just temporary permission.
Intentional prep builds long-term performance.

So yes, some warm-ups stink.

But the right ones? They make you dangerous (in the best way). 💪

Your nervous system has a reset button! It’s called ~The Physiological Sigh~ 🧠🫁

How To: Take one full inhale then another quick inhale through the nose (that second sip reinflates tiny collapsed air sacs called alveoli), followed by one long, slow exhale through the mouth 🌬️

As explained by Dr. Andrew Huberman, this breathing pattern helps expel excess CO₂ more efficiently than normal breathing, and that shift in blood gases is a powerful signal to your brain 🧠

Here’s what actually happens:
🫀 Heart rate starts to drop within seconds
😌 Vagus nerve activity increases (your parasympathetic “calm” pathway)
⚛️ Stress chemistry like adrenaline begins to settle
🫁 The feeling of shortness of breath and chest tightness decreases
💪 Muscle pain and tension releases
🧠 Mental clarity improves as the threat response dials down

In other words, you’re not just “taking a deep breath.” You’re changing your physiology in real time… moving from fight-or-flight toward rest-and-digest

Dr. Leo and Dr. Carly use this technique whenever they’re feeling stressed and it works!

Give it a try and let us know how you feel in the comments 👇

Results like these are attainable with the right care ‼️

Phil came in with chronic shoulder pain that was holding him back from playing pickleball. He was down in the dumps and feeling hopeless.

He was uncertain if he would ever play pickleball again.

Phil had seen various doctors. He tried massage therapy and worked with a chiropractor for 6 months, with no results.

Until he saw Dr. Leo.

Dr. Leo was able to quickly identify the root cause of his shoulder pain, give him a structured and individualized plan to get out of pain, and Phil was pain-free in just 3 sessions!

He’s now back out on the pickleball court and feeling better than ever.

These are the kind of stories that make our day and we hear often at The Wellness Arena.

You can get back to the things you love too!

🫵 Do you have knee pain with squats? 🫵

A ramp might help! Here’s why:

↘️ Heel elevation shifts your center of gravity forward… allowing your tibia (lower leg bone) to glide forward
↘️ This shift forward, helps the hips/pelvis stack better over your feet = less stress at the knee and better load tolerance at the knee
↘️ The heel elevation also improves ankle dorsiflexion without causing compensations like hip shifts or spine extension

In short: slant board squats reduce compensations, improve your movement pattern, and increase your knee’s ability to tolerate compressive forces. 🦵

In shorter… it decreases knee pain, improves mobility, and increases strength! 🤯

Give these a go and let us know how you feel! ⬇️

It’s wins like these that make our day!
