Eating disorders rarely exist alone. Many people also live with anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, trauma, or substance use alongside their eating disorder. These conditions don’t compete for attention, they overlap, intensify each other, and create complex challenges that one-size-fits-all treatment can’t address.
That’s why Sanford CTED takes a comprehensive approach. We don’t just focus on food and weight. We address the mental health struggles, unresolved trauma, and emotional patterns beneath the surface.
Healing the whole person means treating all the pieces, not just the most visible ones.

When Tracy Rogers stepped into the CEO role at Sanford Behavioral Health, her son began building a 10,000-piece Lego Titanic, an unexpected metaphor for a year defined by resilience, recalibration, and steady leadership. In this candid reflection, she shares how Sanford navigated delays, launched new programs, strengthened its leadership team, expanded access through 24/7 EZ Admissions, and reinforced a people-first culture, all while righting the ship and charting a confident course into 2026.

The analogy of righting a ship and anchoring progress is apt as I reflect on my journey as CEO in my first year at Sanford Behavioral Health.

JOHN is more than a program, it’s a promise.
A promise to Veterans and first responders that they are seen, supported, and never alone.
As Matthew VanLiere (a retired deputy sheriff in recovery for 12+ years) shares, the weight of the badge is real, but so is recovery. And it starts when someone reaches out a hand.
If you or someone you love has served and is struggling, help is here.

They sit closer on hard days. They notice what others miss. They offer presence without questions, fixes, or expectations.
In recovery, that matters.

Time with therapy dogs has been shown to lower blood pressure and reduce cortisol, the body’s primary stress hormone. When cortisol stays high, the nervous system remains in fight or flight, making it harder to think clearly, regulate emotions, or engage in treatment.
