Raising Awareness of Intimate Partner Violence and Pregnancy

Recognizing and addressing the connection between intimate partner violence (IPV) and pregnancy is essential to improving maternal health. IPV can have serious impacts on maternal and infant outcomes, making it crucial for health providers to understand the dynamics of IPV and know how to respond.

With support from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Maternal Mortality Surveillance Program, the Michigan Coalition to End Domestic & Sexual Violence (MCEDSV) https://bit.ly/49vUboy has developed a new collection of resources to help health care providers and clinics integrate universal education, trauma-informed screening and referral practices into their everyday care. These materials include a resource compendium https://bit.ly/3LRdFKn, on-demand educational videos https://bit.ly/4o0Hplj, and print resources/ posters – all designed to help providers start meaningful conversations and connect patients to support.

To explore resources, tools and referral information, visit MCEDSV’s website at: www.mcedsv.org.

November is Native American Heritage Month!

National Native American Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the traditions, languages and stories of Native American and Alaska Native communities and ensure their rich histories and contributions continue to thrive with each passing generation. This November and every month, we should celebrate the culture and heritage of the remarkable Native Americans who deeply enrich the quality and character of our Nation. https://www.bia.gov/NNAHM

November was designated as National American Indian Heritage Month in 1990 by President George H.W. Bush and is now commonly known as Native American Heritage Month. Governor Gretchen Whitmer also recognized Native American Heritage Month November 2025. https://bit.ly/3XDHz7o
