A good old fashioned hand off folks!

As of 10/6/2025 Jake is no longer the owner of Big Lake Bodyworks. Who's gonna fill those shoes? The one and only Ashlee Dent! The studio and team are lucky to have her as their captain.

Jake is still practicing what he does best right across the hall. Seperate from the business but still close by!

More updates to come, along with Jake's new info and all that comes with it. For now, you can book an appointment with Jake through the BLBW website as normal.

Big Lake Bodyworks started a Go Fund Me for Ava. You may have heard about the house fire on Kaye street recently, it was Ava’s house! No harm came to anyone (pets included) but a life restart is underway. Anything helps and goes straight to her. More info in the link. Would not change a thing.

Isle Royale you did it again.
Happy to get out, glad to be back.
9 days full of adventure, kissed by the sun, cleaned by the rain, lessons learned and moose spotting.

In 2021 I thru hiked the Pacific Crest Trail from end to end. That’s 2600 something miles. Even with all that experience under my belt I still forget how hard and fun backpacking can be. I suffered from a recurring knee injury last week but was uplifted by great friendship. Both new and old friends. What a great experience.

Backpacking is more than hiking, sleeping in the dirt and eating anything you want (or can carry). It’s a mental health exercise-talking to yourself kindly. It’s about bonding with friends and creating new ones. Pushing yourself physically, sometimes too far, that’s circles right back around to brain health. Being humble with your past and current life circumstances. Creating a happy, healthy and strong life.

I’ll be back in the office on Monday ready to rock!

Here is our in office holiday gift card sale dates and hours. During these dates/times a member of the team will be there to sell physical gift cards. Please note that Angie’s products won’t be for sale this year. However, we have products which are just as awesome! Online e-gift cards are also available on our website.

Gift cards this year will look a bit different. It will have our current name/logo along with our new name/logo. The official name change is set to happen 2024. Clients will not have to make any changes for we are the same business, same folks just a new look!

We had the pleasure of meeting with Rebecca, who is the owner & Instructor of Human Anatomy Academy - Massage Therapy School this morning (and one of her graduating students!) We love to hear about what current massage schools are doing to prepare future Massage Therapists here in the UP!

Rebecca has been instructing massage students since 2016 and is accepting new students March of 2024.

It’s been TWO years since I took my first step on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). It’s hiker tradition to celebrate this day, my Trailiversary.

Hands down the best decision Iv made for myself. 2600 miles of beauty, friendship, growth, pain and self love. The saying “walk it out” has a whole new meaning to me.

I encourage y’all to take a walk. A longer walk then usual. You might think “why am I walking so far today”. You won’t know till you get home.

Peace and love to my trial buddies and every kind human that gave me rides, food and helped me along the way.
I’ll remember this journey forever.
