March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and today may be Friday the 13th - but there’s no need to be spooked! 👻 Colorectal cancer is preventable, treatable, and beatable when caught early.

Adults 45 and older should begin routine screening. If you’re on Medicare, certain colorectal cancer screenings are covered, which can make early detection more accessible and affordable.

Our SHIIP counselor is here to help you understand what preventive services your Medicare plan covers and answer any questions you may have.

Early detection saves lives. Take charge of your health and encourage the people you love to stay up to date on their screenings. 💙

We’re proud to highlight Eli Litvack (they/them), a certified Speech-Language Pathologist who provides care through our Home Health and Hospice program at the Hot Springs Health Program.

For over two years, Eli has been helping patients across Madison County improve their ability to communicate, think, and swallow safely. They work with individuals experiencing challenges related to conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, long COVID, and other speech, voice, language, or cognitive impairments.

Speech therapy can make a meaningful difference in daily life—helping people reconnect with loved ones, maintain independence, and improve overall quality of life. Eli’s work ensures that members of our community receive compassionate, specialized care right at home when they need it most.

If you or someone you know is experiencing difficulty with communication, thinking, or swallowing, talk with your doctor about whether speech therapy could help.

Thank you, Eli, for the care and dedication you bring to our community every day! 🩵🎉

⏰ Sleep Awareness Week is here!

With Daylight Saving Time this past weekend, many of us lost an hour of sleep as the clocks “sprang forward.” That small change can disrupt our body’s internal clock and leave us feeling tired, groggy, or out of sync for several days.

Sleep Awareness Week is a great reminder to focus on healthy sleep habits that help your body adjust. Simple steps like sticking to a regular sleep schedule, creating a relaxing bedtime routine, keeping your bedroom cool and dark, and limiting caffeine late in the day can make a big difference in how rested you feel.

As we adjust to the time change, take a moment to prioritize your sleep. Quality rest supports your immune system, improves mood and focus, and helps your body stay healthy.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month!

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S. among cancers that affect both men and women -but it doesn’t have to be. Screening starting at age 45 can save lives by finding abnormal growths before they turn into cancer.

Know the risk factors.
Know the symptoms.
Get screened.

You may be at higher risk if you have a family history of colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, or certain genetic conditions. Symptoms can include changes in bowel habits, blood in or on your stool, ongoing abdominal pain, or unexplained weight loss, however many people have no symptoms at first.

Talk to your healthcare provider about the screening test that’s right for you. Early detection saves lives. 🩵

This month we’re celebrating an incredible milestone - 30 years of service from Teresa Franklin! 🎉

For three decades, Teresa has been a dedicated part of HSHP, serving in our pharmacies and caring for the patients and communities who rely on us every day. She has worked at all four of our centers over the years, but for the last 25 years, Laurel has been home, both professionally and personally. It’s the community she proudly calls home, alongside her beloved cats, Ed and Molly.

When asked about her time here, Teresa shared that she has met and worked with a LOT of interesting people over the years and has made lifelong friends along the way.

Teresa, thank you for 30 years of commitment, compassion, and service. HSHP is stronger because of you, and we are so grateful for the impact you’ve made across all of our centers ❤

Today we recognize National Caregivers Day, a time to honor the compassion, strength, and selflessness of caregivers everywhere. Whether you’re a family member caring for a loved one at home or part of a professional care team, your dedication makes an incredible difference in the lives of others.

Caregiving can be deeply meaningful, but it can also be exhausting and overwhelming at times. That’s why our Home Care and Hospice programs are here: to provide support, guidance, and compassionate care for both patients AND the family members who love them. You don’t have to carry it all alone.

To every caregiver: we see you, we appreciate you, and we’re here for you!
