’𝙏𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣!🎄🐖 🍼🔴
On our farm, every litter gets access Ralco Birthright milk replacer—not because our crossbred sows don’t milk well, but because some of them 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 do… and some of them have tougher days.
One thing we’ve learned: piglets will 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 prefer their mom’s milk over replacer. If a sow is milking great or has a smaller litter, the babies won’t drink much replacer until her production naturally tapers off.
But when a litter starts drinking a LOT of replacer after the first day or two? That’s usually a sign the sow might be dealing with mastitis or drying up from farrowing stress.
