I know my primary care colleagues feel this…

Important for parents to consider!

I've been very outspoken in my criticism of the baseball showcase industry as a direct contributor to the escalating injury rates we're seeing in young players. And thanks to this study, we have some even more eye-opening data that demonstrates this trend. And keep in mind that there is an element of "survivorship bias" in play here; most of the players who got injured never made it to the top 5 rounds of the MLB draft.

We're seeing players participate in more showcases, and they're doing so at younger ages. That's a bad combination.

Whether it’s in the gym or in the clinic…language matters!!

Sure, if someone is in pain or they’re stalling on progress in the gym, they usually want a reason as to why…and you can certainly talk about that!

BUT…

It shouldn’t be the main focus of the session. A client should ALWAYS leave the first session feeling empowered and hungry for more.

Words of encouragement vs. wagging a finger and telling people all that is “wrong” with them can go a long way!

Just finished “Subvert” by Dan Cleather and though I still have to work through some things in I’m my minds-eye, it’s an important read and one I recommend. Initially I struggled because of the challenge to my 30 years of professional experience, but I’ve learned that when I get this feeling, there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow if I stay the course. Published just before the pandemic, it is like Cleather knew what was about to happen. Finally, I will offer that it would be to the benefit of all for each of us to step outside of our echo-chambers occasionally.
