When Guiding Star Marshalltown opened its doors back in 2020, we didn’t know how long our vision of serving mamas, babies, and families would last, or what it would take to get this far.
They say most nonprofits fail in their first five-years, and we have officially surpassed that milestone. Not only have we surpassed five years, but we’ve achieved this milestone through sheer determination and the incredible support of this community.
Many nonprofits that provide community services, like ours, rely heavily on local, federal, or foundation grants. While we’ve been blessed to receive a few small grants from local businesses, the heart of our funding has always come from individual community members. Yes, those of you who give $10 a month are quite literally keeping our doors open. This kind of support is rare, and it means more to us than we could ever put into words.
Because of you, we reached our goal to continue operations into 2026. As the new year begins, fundraising efforts will pick back up, but for now, we just want you to pause with us and recognize how meaningful this accomplishment is.
We exist because of YOU! Marshalltown takes care of its own, and we are so proud to be part of a community that shows up, time and time again. Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season, and a tremendous thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
