💙🥩 A HUGE thank you to Haverhill Social Club and everyone who joined us for our Meat Raffle on Sunday!

Because of your incredible support and generosity, we exceeded our goal — raising a total of $3,835! These funds will allow us to purchase both a blanket warmer for our hospice home patients and a much-needed new dryer for the hospice home.

We are so grateful for this amazing community and the kindness you continue to show. A special shoutout to Emily at Haverhill for hosting us and for all of her help — she’s already invited us back for another Meat Raffle in February!

We also want to recognize the Old Timer Tavern, the physicians of McFarland Clinic, and Haverhill Social Club — each played a part in making this possible through hosting, support, or grant funding toward the blanket warmer.

And a big thank-you to the meat suppliers who generously donated all the meat for our raffles — your contributions made this event a success!

A Story Worth Sharing 💙

Through a wonderful collaboration between Iowa River Hospice and Glenwood Place’s “Dare to Dream” program, retired teacher and hospice patient, Shirley Sternola, got to relive one of her greatest joys — reading stories to children. 📚✨

At 91 years old, Shirley spent her life inspiring young minds across several states and even owned a bookstore called Bo Peep Books (a perfect nod to her maiden name, Lamb!). Glenwood Place threw a surprise book club party and Shirley got to sign and read a children's book that an old friend dedicated to her.

Moments like these remind us what hospice care is truly about: honoring lives, celebrating passions, and creating meaningful experiences.

We’re so proud to see our very own hospice nurse, Angie Wilson, featured on KCCI for helping make a special dream come true at Glenwood Place in Marshalltown!
