September is National Recovery Month, a time to honor the strength, resilience, and hope of individuals on their journey toward recovery from substance use and mental health challenges. It’s a powerful reminder that recovery is possible, and that with the right support, people can and do reclaim their lives.

This month also recognizes the tireless work of professionals, peer support, families, and communities who walk alongside those in recovery. Their compassion and dedication help create safe and supportive environments where healing can occur.

Recovery Month is not only about celebrating success, but also about breaking stigma, raising awareness, and promoting access to services that empower individuals to thrive. Whether you're in recovery, supporting someone who is, or working in the field, your role matters.

Family Health Center is excited to introduce this year's keynote speakers—each bringing powerful insight, lived experience, and a shared commitment to connection, recovery, and resilience.

🎙️ Douglas Darby & Jacob Jansen – Turning the Page Now
T.R.U.T.H. (Teaching Resilience Using Trust & Honesty)
Longtime recovery advocates and educators, Douglas and Jacob challenge the status quo of youth prevention. Their engaging session offers real talk, shared experiences, and meaningful tools that empower students to speak up and seek support through trust, honesty, and hope.

🎙️ Dr. Alonzo Kelly – Kelly Leadership Group, LLC
Navigating the Terrain of Change
A nationally recognized coach, strategist, and speaker, Dr. Kelly helps teams build stronger, more inclusive environments. This session will focus on accountability, authentic relationships, and navigating high-stakes conversations with clarity and purpose.

🎙️ Andrew Schreier – Community Medical Services & New Life Resources, Inc.
How We Speak Matters
Our words have power. Andrew explores how the language we use in treatment, prevention, and care can either uplift or unintentionally harm. This session challenges us to shift away from outdated, stigmatizing language and move toward more respectful, person-centered communication.
