Our rural communities can face unique challenges when it comes to health care. These five domains of social detriments to health contribute to health disparities and inequality of care. For example, people who don't have access to grocery stores with healthy foods are less likely to have good nutrition. That raises the risk of health conditions like heart disease, diabetes and obesity.
In addition to offering great coverage, Security Health Plan actively seeks solutions to address the problems facing our local rural population, such as food scarcity, lack of housing, transportation and broadband internet access by advocating for policy change with state and federal agencies, engaging in public speaking events and building relationships with community-based organizations.
