Someone to do it with. These are the ingredients for LifeLong Living. And at LiveOak, we're serving individuals with cognitive disabilities and supporting them to achieve the full life they deserve. LiveOak Living Community was purposefully designed to be a safe and supportive environment for adults with cognitive disabilities. We wanted to create a community where people could thrive, not just survive. A place where people feel respected, connected and valued. At LiveOak, we:

Embrace the idea that all human beings deserve to live rich, full lives. Believe that people don't plateau, environments do. Focus on the humanity of our residents, not their diagnoses. Encourage a sense of community through shared experiences and responsibilities. Respect the privacy and personal boundaries of our residents and staff members. Value the unique character and contributions of all members. Create opportunities for personal growth for each individual within the community. Promote well-being and resilience in our residents.

Last week, our team attended the Purpose Trust Ownership Conference in Austin, Texas.
As we approach our first full year as an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), we are reminded of the importance of this transition. Employee ownership protects our mission, culture, and the person-centered practices that define our community. It enables us to continue building LiveOak as an intentional community, ensuring that each resident is seen, known, and supported.
For our residents and families, this transition provides stability. Our work is not influenced by short-term decisions or external ownership changes, but is guided by those who are deeply invested in our community each day.
We appreciated learning from other purpose-driven organizations and sharing our experience as a newly employee-owned community. Above all, we are confident that this decision ensures the care, connection, and values will remain strong for generations.
