Welcome Health Direct Primary Care for individuals, families and businesses in Augusta, Evans and Waynesboro, GA

Welcome Health grew out of the practice started by Dr. Rob Lamberts in the beginning 2013. Frustrated with how normal primary care gives little attention to the needs of the patient, he left his old practice and became one of the pioneers of Direct Primary Care. His patients were delighted with the change and his practice grew. This success caught the attention of Davis Mellick and Ed Boland who were also exhausted by the usual business of healthcare. They saw this as a chance to escape the hamster wheel of fee-for-service medicine and practice in a patient-centered world.

As we move through winter and settle into 2026, supporting your immune system starts with everyday choices โ€” especially what and how you eat.

โ€ข Citrus fruits, berries & kiwi (vitamin C)
โ€ข Leafy greens like spinach & kale
โ€ข Yogurt, kefir & fermented foods
โ€ข Garlic, ginger & turmeric
โ€ข Nuts, seeds & healthy fats like olive oil

โ€ข Eat regular, balanced meals to keep energy and immunity steady
โ€ข Prioritize protein โ€” immune cells and antibodies are made from protein
โ€ข Stay hydrated โ€” even mild dehydration can affect immune cell function
โ€ข Focus on whole foods more often than processed ones

About 70% of the immune system is located in the gut, making nutrition critical to immune support
โ€ข Chronic stress can suppress immune function as much as lack of sleep
โ€ข Sleep deprivation for even one week can measurably weaken immune response

Your immune system is built through small, consistent choices over time. At Welcome Health, weโ€™re here to listen, guide, and support your long-term health.

๐Ÿฉบ Health made simple โ€” and smarter for businesses.

Weโ€™re excited to share this CSRA City Lifestyle interview with Davis Mellick, PA-C, where he explains how Direct Primary Care gives employers a third option: lower healthcare costs and better access for employees.

Fewer insurance claims. Transparent pricing. Same-day care.
Itโ€™s healthcare built around peopleโ€”not paperwork.

Our Story

I worked for 18 years doing primary care for adults and children in the insurance-run health care system. In February of 2013 I opened my new "direct care" practice, a practice where I work for the people in health care that really matter: my patients. For a low monthly fee I provide: 1. Office visits at no additional cost 2. Lab tests, procedures, and medications (when possible) at low cost. 3. Problems handled via secure messaging, video conference, phone calls, text messages, whatever my patients want. I don't force people to come in for problems I can handle using easier means. 4. High level of customer service.

I donโ€™t accept money from insurance companies, although many of my patients still have insurance (which I encourage). I find that money from insurance companies (or Medicare/Medicaid) take the focus off of the patient, distract the medical staff, and generate a huge amount of increased work and headache for everyone. Primary care should be simple. It should be between the doctor and the patient and focus more on health than sickness. Our system (with insurance) does the opposite.

Since opening in 2013 my practice has grown to over 700 patients, and Iโ€™m still able to give people better care than I have ever been able to give.
