Jimmy Lee Mannon, 72, of Blacksburg, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia, on November 5, 1953, to Merle Brickhouse Mannon and the late Harvey Lee Mannon, Sr.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Ann Ingrahm; and brothers, Gary Wayne Mannon and Harvey Lee Mannon, Jr.

Jimmy was employed for several years at Bassett Furniture. A true outdoorsman, he loved being in nature, working on the farm, and particularly enjoyed fishing and camping. Playing horseshoes was a favorite pastime; he even earned trophies for his skill. Jimmy deeply loved his family and enjoyed visiting and making special memories with them.

Along with his mother, he is survived by his sisters, Jennifer Post, Valerie Lynn Scott (Ricky); brother, William Randold Mannon; favorite cousin Rose-Rose; nephew Mitchell Mannon; nieces Cathy Hale, Norma Greene; additional nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Henry Memorial Park with Pastor George Close officiating.

Yvonne Newman Harris, 74, of Martinsville, Virginia, entered her heavenly rest Thursday, March 5, 2026. She was born on December 3, 1951, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Otis William Newman and Joyce Thompson Newman.

Yvonne was a woman of faith and a member of First Baptist in Collinsville, where she found great joy in volunteering at the church. She was a dedicated employee at Fiber Container where she worked for 23 years as an office manager. She was part of the Collinsville Jaycettes, enjoyed walking, and loved traveling, especially to the beach. Her grandchildren were her world, and she was always happy to spend time with them.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 57 years, Thomas Franklin Harris; daughters Belinda Ashworth (Todd), Felecia McBride; sisters, Theresa Jones (Gary), Cindy Vernon; grandchildren, Luke Ashworth(Megan) , Cory Ashworth (Gia), and Savannah McBride; and great-grandchildren, Liam Zuniga, and Tommy Ashworth.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, 3339 Virginia Avenue, Collinsville, Virginia with Pastor Larry Cheek officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Millicent Rolanda Walton, 65, of Martinsville, Virginia, transitioned from her earthly home on Friday, February 27, 2026. She was born November 3, 1960, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Frances Becker Walton and William T. Walton, Sr.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, William Walton, Jr.

Millicent was a 1980 graduate of Martinsville High School. She worked at Panel Knitting, Sarah Lee, National Textile, and later retired from the Dutch Inn, dedicating more than forty years to her work. She loved animals, enjoyed being crafty and drawing, and liked watching movies. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her sisters, her brother, and her Quint Man.

She is survived by her daughters, Africa Hamlett (Quinton) and Ebony Hairston (Samuel); sisters, Cynthia Walton and Karen Martin; brother, Jemal Walton; grandchildren, Quintaja Hamlett and Quintaiz Hamlett; and one great grandchild, Caden Morehead.

Although services will be private, the family wishes to extend their gratitude for the love and support that has been shown during their time of grief.

R. Wayne Johnson, 83, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026. He was born in Virginia on June 2, 1942, to the late Louis Baley Johnson and Mary Tatem Johnson.

Wayne was a man of Christian faith and attended Northside Christain Church and Rich Acres Christian Church. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 1964 and a master’s degree a year later from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He worked many years in a fulfilling career as a professional engineer land surveyor. He was a man of diverse interests, enjoying watching and playing sports. Wayne particularly enjoyed softball and played the sport until he was nearly 65 years old. He watched sports of every kind all the time, to the point of avoiding commercials by watching a different sports channel. His favorite teams were the Atlanta Braves and the Washington Redskins.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Livesay Johnson; daughters, Dianne Carter (Doug), Kathy Breth (Bruce), Amy Stout (Jay); son, Bobby Johnson, Jr. (Lisa); brother, L. Doug Johnson; grandchildren, Doug (Nicole), Janie, Robert (Tara), Isaac (Rebecca), Kyle (Niamh), Stella, Ann-Marie, Alivia, Noah; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

The Johnson family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and support that has been shown during their time of grief.

A memorial will be held at Northside Christian Church in Yorktown, Virginia on March 24, 2026 at 1:00pm.

Tarrace Lamont Carter, 51, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away at his home Saturday, February 28, 2026. He was born in Martinsville, Virginia, on April 3, 1974, to Carolyn Diane Carter and James Reynolds (Sandra).

Tarrace was a man who deeply loved his family. He was very good with math and had varied interests, including playing basketball and video games. He enjoyed watching movies.

He is survived by his daughter, Shaterrance Aayiah Carter (Nikki); his son, Tarrace Lamont Reynolds, Jr.; and sister, Tamatha Thomas (Robert); niece, Ariel Carter; nephew, Roberto Thomas; devoted girlfriend, Lisa Nelson; numerous cousins, extended family and friends.

Diana Martin O’Dell, 64, of Rocky Mount, Virginia, transitioned to her heavenly home Saturday, February 28, 2026. She was born May 20, 1961, in Rocky Mount, Virginia, to the late David Martin and Janice Cooper Washburn Martin.

Diana life was grounded in her Christian faith. She shared a close bond with her sister, Janine and husband David, and treasured the time they spent together on the farm each weekend. She dearly loved her grandchildren and had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her cats. Diana enjoyed riding motorcycles with her late husband, Jimmy, with whom she shared more than twenty-five years of marriage. She held a bachelor’s degree in business and worked for many years as a stockbroker assistant.

She is survived by her son, James “Davy” David O’Dell (Macayla); sister, Janine Martin Taylor (David); brother, David Blane Martin; grandchildren, Mackenzie Rae O’Dell, James Reid O’Dell; special niece, Jessie O’Dell Divens (Dominique); niece, Amanda Blane Martin; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Melvin Reed Bryant, 78, of Martinsville, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 28, 2026. He was born December 1, 1947, in Danville, Virginia, to the late David Grove Bryant and Katleen Richardson Bryant.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Bryant.

Melvin was of the Baptist faith and a member of Fairway Baptist Church in Bassett, Virginia. He worked for VDOT for more than thirty years. He was known for helping others and would give the shirt off of his back. He loved animals and enjoyed his Harley and his 1997 Mustang, which he took pride in. he was a strict but loving father to Renea, and everything he did was out of love for her. When they made him, they broke the mold; they sure don’t make people like him anymore.

He is survived by his daughter, Renea Rogers (William “Ray” Handy), fur baby, Midnight; brothers, Joel Bryant and David Bryant; many nieces; nephews; cousins; extended family and friends; grand-puppies, Bella, Spencer, and Pebbles.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 2:30 PM at Wright Funeral Service Martinsville Chapel with Pastor A.C. Palmer officiating. A visitation will be held one-half hour prior to memorial service.

Timothy Douglas Wolfe, 60, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Monday, February 23, 2026. He was born March 10, 1965, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late James Clinton Wolfe and Patricia Ann Handy Wolfe.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Cindy Wolfe and Christy Katsifos.

Timothy was of the Christian faith and lived simply. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and truly enjoyed living off the land. He found joy in collecting comic books and had a special bond with his beloved dog, Buddy. He was a hardworking man, employed for fifteen years with American Standard Homes until the company closed, and later spent many dedicated years with Pluma. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. Above all, he dearly loved his granddaughter, Serenity.

He is survived by his son, Damian Micheal Wolfe (Jessica); sister, Elizabeth Lemons; brothers, James Clinton Wolfe, Jr., Christopher David Wolfe; and grand-daughter, Serenity Nicole Wolfe.

Although all services will be private, the family wishes to extend their gratitude for the outpouring of love and kindness that has been shown during their time of grief.

John “David” Cuthbertson, 78, of Horsepasture, Virginia and Sarasota, Florida passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at his home in Sarasota. John, better known as David, was born on June 22, 1947, in Grundy, Virginia, to Robert (Bob) Lee Cuthbertson and Geneva Cosby Hagerman Cuthbertson.

David was a graduate of Garden Creek High School. Following high school, he attended Roanoke Bible College obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Theology and Hermeneutics. He then attended Kentucky Christian College obtaining a Master of Ministry degree. His ministry career of 55 years led him to establish or serve numerous churches throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. He faithfully served as Senior Minister at Horsepasture Christian Church for a total of 32 years, where he retired in 2023.

David was a dedicated leader in the Christian community, serving as President of the Virginia Evangelism Fellowship as well as on the board of trustees for Roanoke Bible College. Additionally, David served on the Planning & Oversight Committee for the North American Christian Convention and was a proud member of the Horsepasture Ruritans.

David is survived by his wife of 3 years, Alisa; 2 sons, Bryan and Christopher (Teresa); 2 stepchildren Kellie (David) Miller and James Yates; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Brenda “Dottie” Cantrell.
David was preceded in death by his father, Robert “Bob” Lee Cuthbertson; his mother, Geneva Cosby Hagerman Cuthbertson; and his 1st wife of 54 years Lynda Louise Smith Cuthbertson.

Services in Florida will be held Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 2pm at New Day Christian Church, 6221 Proctor Road, Sarasota, FL 34241. Services will also be held in Virginia at Horsepasture Christian Church on Friday, March 6, 2026. Visitation is planned from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with the memorial service starting at 11:30 AM. Graveside service will follow.

Ruby Mae “Mae Belle” Brown, 93, of Ridgeway, Virginia, transitioned to her heavenly home Monday, February 16, 2026. She was born February 13, 1933, in Ridgeway, Virginia to the late James J. Moore and Arthene Millner Moore.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of more than fifty years, Robert Lee Brown; sisters, Lucille Estes, Marie Smith; and her brother, James Moore.

Mother Ruby was a faithful member of the Mountain View Missionary Baptist Church where she was the mother of the church and a spiritual advisor and mentor to the ladies of the congregation. She was a missionary; guiding, encouraging, and praying for those around her.

Mae Belle started her career in the housekeeping department at Burlington Industries for forty years and then continuing her career at Bassett Walker for the next seven years. She loved to cook, clean and look after her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she dearly loved and treasured each moment she had with them. She was a praying mother for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always there for any of them whenever she was needed. Mae Belle loved to sing and had a voice that could draw the attention of anyone around her. More than anything else, she loved her family, and all of who she was surrounded by, and wanted to cherish and make lasting memories with each and every one of them. Although her body is no longer with us, her family, friends, and everyone who knew her will always remember the joy and presence of God that stayed with her wherever she went. She will always be held close in their hearts and the memories made will be held dear.

A floating visitation will be held Friday, February 27, 2026, from 2:00 – 5:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Martinsville Chapel. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Mountain View Missionary Baptist Church at 456 Piney Forest Dr, Martinsville, Virginia. Interment will follow at Mayo Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held one-half hour prior to the funeral service.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Marie Brown and Sara Brown; sons, William Moore, David Moore (Anna), Robert Brown, and James Brown (Cindy); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

The Brown Family would like to extend their gratitude for all the thoughts and prayers sent their way during their time of grief.
