Thank you so much Ally for completing this preworkshop interview for our upcoming Spring Equinox Yoga & Meditation workshop on 3/2/26 from 6-7:30pm at the Smith River Sports Complex.
Fun Interview with Ally Snead Yoga & Ayurveda:
1. Name: Ally Snead
2. Occupation/ Educational Background: Yoga Instructor, Ayurvedic Wellness Coach, and Prevention Specialist at Piedmont Community Services.
3. How did “Ally Snead Yoga & Ayurveda” come to be?
I was fascinated by traveling and learning about the different cultures of the world which is why I studied Art History and Religious Studies in college. A deep curiosity and a yearning for healing then called me to India, where I learned about yoga and was introduced to the wisdom of Ayurvedic medicine. A decade later, I have now spent over 600 hours training as a Yoga Instructor and Ayurvedic Wellness Coach. I am passionate about sharing the medicine of these ancient teachings with my community to support us in our fast-paced, modern lives.
4. Favorite hobbies in your free time:
Journaling, connecting with loved ones, and hiking (or almost any activity where I can move my body and be outdoors).
5. What brings you the most joy in life?
When I’m able to slow down time and rest within the pause. So much joy and inspiration emerges when I allow myself to become deeply absorbed in the moment and create space for life and possibilities to open up.
6. What do you like to do on a Saturday night?
I can easily spend a Saturday night in the bathtub, talking on the phone with a friend, and crawling into bed early.
7. What helps you “get out of bed” in the morning?
Breakfast porridge! I’ve been on a roll with making the yummiest breakfast porridges with grains, dates, and collagen powder (courtesy of my Instant Pot).
8. What is one thing you love about your Self?
My heart and the compassion I have to support others and see them thrive. I’m grateful for the compassion I’ve cultivated for myself as well (even the parts of me that feel difficult to love and accept).
9. What is one thing you love about your community?
Our location. We are perfectly nestled at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and by Philpott Lake. The nature we are surrounded by has the ability to support our nervous systems and create a greater sense of peace in our lives.
10. What do you hope others might consider “doing” after reading your Interview that would make YOU smile?
Meditate. Set a timer for a few minutes while you sit and watch your breathing or listen to a Yoga Nidra/Non-Sleep Deep Rest meditation on YouTube. Taking time to intentionally bring stillness to the mind can create life-changing benefits for our physical health, emotional well-being, and our relationships with other people.
Thanks again Ally this fun and inspirational interview!
We deeply appreciate that you are willing to share a few "nuggets" about your amazing Self, and inspire others, too!
See Everyone in 12 Days and Counting!
All the best,
Jenny Yates, LCSW, CEO
