A big congratulations to Ranken Jordan's director of respiratory therapy, Nick Beck, for being recently placed on St. Louis Business Journal's 40 under 40 list! Since joining in 2019, he led the expansion of the respiratory team, doubling the number of therapists, thereby allowing our hospital to serve a broader range of kids across the Midwest!

With amazing leaders like Nick, the Ranken Jordan team has industry leading retention rates, going a full year without any voluntary turnover. Visit the Biz Journal website to read more about him and check out his Q&A: https://bizj.us/1qou2j

For many of us, the mean time at home with family. But for medically complex children, spending the season in the hospital can make family connection more challenging.
However, family togetherness is essential to a child’s development so we host events, like our annual Santa for Siblings, to make it easier for families to enjoy time together during the holidays while they have a child in the hospital.

It’s something we wish more hospitals would do and we explore what hospitals could do now to bring families together in this blog post: https://carebeyondthebedside.org/importance-of-family-connection-holiday/

🌟🌼Congratulations to Ranken Jordan Nurse, Tori Kettenacker, our DAISY Award Honoree!🌼🌟
We are thrilled to announce that Tori has been selected as the most recent recipient of the prestigious Award! 🏆

This award recognizes extraordinary nurses who provide exceptional care and compassion to their patients and families.
The DAISY Foundation Award was established in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). His family wanted to honor the incredible care and kindness Patrick received from his nurses during his illness. The DAISY Award now celebrates nurses worldwide for their dedication and the difference they make in the lives of their patients.

Please join us in celebrating Tori's remarkable achievement, all of the nominees, and their unwavering commitment to providing outstanding care beyond the bedside® to our young patients.

Drop a comment below to congratulate Tori and share your appreciation for all the amazing work our nurses do every day! 🩺👏 🎉

This , we're extra grateful for St. Louis Blues goalie and Stanley Cup Champion Jordan Binnington, defenseman Tyler Tucker, and everyone’s favorite mascot Louie for a special visit with our kids last week! 🏒

The visitors took photos and signed autographs for patients, families and staff. Best of all, they made some time for ! The warmth and joy was impossible to miss and just what the doctor ordered during these chilly months.❄️

As always, a huge shoutout to our incredible staff who always find creative ways to help kids of all abilities join in the fun. Sometimes, Care Beyond the Bedside looks like a game of indoor hockey with the pros!

Thank you, Blues, for bringing so many smiles to Ranken Jordan! 💙💛

At Ranken Jordan, nothing makes us happier than seeing our kids get stronger and head home. But for families of medically complex children, going home takes preparation, confidence, and support. 🏡

That’s why we’re so excited to introduce Sim Home, our brand-new Simulated Home Environment. To the best of our knowledge, it’s a first-of-its-kind space in Missouri where families can “practice” caring for their child in a home-like setting before discharge.

The Sim Home experience includes an overnight stay and Ranken Jordan nurses nearby if the family needs help with anything. Its purpose is to give parents the comfort, privacy, and skills they need to feel ready for the next chapter.

Read more about Sim Home and why we created it in our latest article from Chief Nursing Officer, Kristin LaRose: carebeyondthebedside.org/meet-sim-home-space-for-families/

What makes being a Ranken Jordan nurse inspiring, fun, and rewarding?

🩺Time to connect: Patients stay with us longer than in acute care hospitals (45–60 days), so you get to know them and their families.

🩺 See your impact: Celebrate first steps, new words, and breakthroughs in real time.

🩺 Healing = Play: Think playground walks, music jams, a busy art room.

🩺 Grow your skills: Our Care Beyond the Bedside model helps nurses build confidence across a wide range of care settings.

🩺 Support from day one: Low nurse-to-patient ratios, Clinical Ladder growth pathways, loan forgiveness, and day-one benefits.

If you’re looking for a nursing role where you can find purpose in your practice, we’d love to hear from you.
