We launched seven new initiatives in 2025—many first-of-their-kind in our state and one of only a few in the country—designed to help medically complex children thrive in the hospital and at home. From in-hospital summer camp to our new Sim Home for caregivers, each innovation reflects our Care Beyond the Bedside model in action.

Harmony’s family faced an unthinkable year, and they didn’t face it alone. For our team at Ranken Jordan, caring for patients means caring for families, too! 💛

After a tornado destroyed their home, Harmony continued her care at Ranken Jordan, where our inpatient and outpatient teams supported her healing and helped her family regain stability during a time of crisis. Care extended beyond therapy to include caregiver support, family connection, and moments of joy.

The holiday magic arrived in full force at when Santa made a joyful surprise visit to brighten the day for our young patients! Laughter, smiles, and holiday cheer filled the building as they reminded us all how powerful the spirit of the season can be. 🎅🎁✨

We are so grateful to the Maryland Heights Police Department and the Maryland Heights Fire Protection District for continuing this cherished tradition since 2004. Your support over the past 21 years has made this experience truly special for our patients, families, and staff. ❤️🎄

A big congratulations to Ranken Jordan's director of respiratory therapy, Nick Beck, for being recently placed on St. Louis Business Journal's 40 under 40 list! Since joining in 2019, he led the expansion of the respiratory team, doubling the number of therapists, thereby allowing our hospital to serve a broader range of kids across the Midwest!

For many of us, the mean time at home with family. But for medically complex children, spending the season in the hospital can make family connection more challenging.
However, family togetherness is essential to a child’s development so we host events, like our annual Santa for Siblings, to make it easier for families to enjoy time together during the holidays while they have a child in the hospital.

The DAISY Foundation Award was established in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). His family wanted to honor the incredible care and kindness Patrick received from his nurses during his illness. The DAISY Award now celebrates nurses worldwide for their dedication and the difference they make in the lives of their patients.

She won this year’s Nurse Innovator Award from the Center for Missouri Nurses for her work leading a pioneering initiative to address our most pressing barrier to discharge: the nationwide shortage of private duty nursing (PDN). Congrats Amanda! 🥳
